On the 12th of January, a group of militants from The Resistance Front (TRF) were arrested in Jammu and Kashmir. They had attacked and killed three members from the Bharatiya Janta Party last year during the demonstrations of the Citizenship Amendment Act, which was to be introduced.

On the 13th of January, in the early quarters of the day, the police from the J & K Police Force arrested the said militants for the attack.

India has been a weird country for about a good quarter of the decade, with every other political public institution adopting the interests of the Central in its entirety.

What it in essence states is the presence of internal extremist forces that have effectively sought to destroy or put a halt to the democratic progress of the country in its absolute form.

This brings us to the question as to how safe are we from further attacks from the purported ‘terrorist’ attacks and how far is the government going to go to protect us from the said attacks.

The Lashkar-e-Taiba supported militant organization- The Resistance Front (TRF)- has been one of the major causes of concern for the Indian State since the time of independence.

Who Are The Resistance Front?

The Resistance Front can effectively be determined as an offshoot of the Lashkar-e-Taiba terror outfit, owing to the numerous speculations and definitive statements made by the group itself, alongside its media handle stating a myriad of incriminating statements.

The social media of the TRF has been the most surmountable evidence of their willingness to come forward whenever any supposed terrorist activity is stated to have occurred.

Face of the discreet terrorists, hungry for attention

The statement from General BS Raju after receiving information concerning the existence of the terror outfit seems to effectively condense their presence and origin into a more realistic note- “ There is no organisation called TRF. It is a social media entity which is trying to take credit for anything and everything that is happening within the Valley. It is in the electronic domain.”

What Do These Arrests Mean For The Country?

For over two years, Indians have waited with bated breath to catch a particular set of culprits or heads to place upon their pikes and self reflect upon their worth as the frontline defenders of their notion of democracy.

Arrests of the militants in this country, at the end of the day, rests upon the factor of them going against the majority populace of this nation. These arrests exist only to promulgate the very same ideal that the apex government has sought to provide.

Zahoor Ahmed, a member of the TRF, was arrested on suspicion of having been behind the deaths of the 3 BJP workers

The Resistance Front, although a by-product of the alleged terror funded state of Pakistan and a beneficiary of the Lashkar-e-Taiba and the Mujahideen, is much more than just another Islamic terrorist organization.

TRF, in its essence, follows the ideals of the revolutionary militant Amanullah Khan, the leader of the Jammu And Kashmir Liberation Front that sought to commemorate a separate country, independent of both India and Pakistan.

The attack from The Resistance Front can be attributed to the fact of a prolonged frustration for the formerly protected state of J&K’s abrogation of their Special Status.

Inadvertently, the generational oppression suffered by the State at the hands of the government through AFSPA has been stated through the labyrinths of history.

The power granted through the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) has been through the threads of history been put under massive scrutiny

However, on the other end of the spectrum, what these arrests seek to point at is the selective sense of outrage from the apex government.

Ashes And Debris: An Account On The Consequences Of The Delhi Pogrom

As stated before, the apex government only reins its head only when its ideology is under public scrutiny. With the clarion call of the BJP MP, Kapil Mishra, North Delhi was reduced to ashes and dust, shuttered shops and annihilated mosques.

With each call of the ruling government, the representatives of the draconian Centre, the Delhi police force, sat and stayed put to watch the destruction unfold in front of them.

The mastermind behind the destruction and anguish caused in North Delhi in 2020

It is still with bated breath that the people of India seat themselves, hoping for the perpetrators of the widespread destruction to witness the righteous scorn of justice. And yet, most of them have come to terms with the fact that the wait will be one of anguish and impatience. For its only fact that our justice system opens its gates only selectively.

Yet again, they will say that there exists no concrete basis upon which Kapil Mishra may be detained for inciting the rioters, as video evidence only works when you work in tandem with leftist organizations in student bodies.

With each arrest and detainment of the rioters, my heart bleeds for the ones whose pain is never spoken about- the common people. Not everyone is a protester, not everyone is a militant, and yet they are the ones stuck between the crossfire.

And, as much as one’s blood boils, the only thing that gets me through my day is one quote from Haider- “Inteqam se sirf inteqam badhti hai-” (Revenge begets revenge).

This selective sense of righteousness deems changing, however, one can’t know if it is to change here and now.
