Locked In Washing Machines, Bidet Water Sprayed In Mouth As Punishment: Bengaluru Daycare Horrors

-

For many working parents, the biggest problem is finding a safe and trusted place to leave their young children. So the fact that the company itself offers in-house daycare services might seem like a dream come true. However, the recent horrors that have come out about a Bengaluru daycare leave many to wonder if there truly is anywhere that their children would be safe or not.

Clips showing concerning visuals of employees at a daycare centre in a company located in Bengaluru have sparked outrage and led to police action as well. The clips that have been circulating for a couple of days now showed toddlers being manhandled by employees and have since led to a shutdown of the daycare centre and five women being booked.

The other disturbing information to come out is that this problem is not new, and was previously reported to authorities as well, for which the whistleblower was rewarded by getting fired.

What Happened At The Bengaluru Daycare?

The daycare facility called the ‘Little Buds Day Care’ at the centre of the case is located inside Capgemini Technology Services India Limited’s Brookefield campus in Bengaluru.

The complaint, filed by an official of the District Child Protection Unit, Bengaluru East on June 29, 2026, at the  HAL police station, showed video evidence from June 25, where the crèche staff were subjecting the children, some of whom are as young as two or three years old, to physical and mental abuse.

The complaint revealed that children were beaten if they cried or created disturbance, locked inside washrooms, or even the front load tub of a washing machine, dragged, sprayed with water and subject to other forms of physical assault.

The caregivers also forced the kids to sit inside a Western-style toilet commode and sprayed water into their mouths using bidets.

According to Bengaluru City Police Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh, “The FIR was registered based on a call to the child helpline. The police have visited the spot, and collected CCTV footage from the campus, which is being analysed now.”

The complaint stated that this issue was brought to light by many of these videos that had been circulating around on WhatsApp.

According to reports, investigators have claimed that a staff member recorded the videos in question after their friend was laid off from the daycare centre last month. The footage was then shared with a child helpline official who, in turn, filed a complaint with the police.

As per reports, the daycare facility handled around 15 to 20 toddlers on a daily basis aged between two and four years, while the total count of children enrolled at the centre amounts to 50-60.

Probation Officer Tilakesh Kumar, who filed the complaint, also revealed how “This has been happening for a long time…” and added, “Earlier, someone informed the supervisor but (then) said no action was taken.”

He also said how the whistleblower was then fired after reporting the abuse. Kumar also said, “The people who are supposed to take care of the children… they abuse them because the children cry or make some sound. To stop them crying, they take the child and put him/her inside washing machines and lock them in the bathroom…this is the complaint we got.”

“After this, we contacted the complainant… and they shared the videos with us.”

He then said, “So immediately we went to the police station and filed the complaint.”

Kumar, speaking to The Indian Express, also said, “When I spoke to the complainant, the person shared in detail and also showed the videos when I met him.”

According to the report, Kumar and HAL police visited the crèche at the Capgemini office and found that the background, colours, interiors and faces of staff matched the video he had been shown. When they reached out to the company to get more information, they found that a third party operates the daycare and that Capgemini does not have any role in the day-to-day operations, including staff recruitment and salaries.

Another official reportedly said, “The staff were not sensitive enough to understand the kind of trauma these incidents can cause to the children. It looks like it had been ongoing for some time, but no one cared to address it. Most importantly, the parents of these children, who are employees of Capgemini, were totally unaware of these abuses.”

They also revealed that Capgemini employees were restricted from entering the daycare premises, which could have allowed this abuse to go on for longer and remain unchecked as well.

Where Is The Case At Now?

In a recent development, Capgemini has temporarily shut down the on-campus daycare facility pending the police investigation. Releasing a statement, the company said, “Capgemini’s foremost priority is the health, safety and wellbeing of its employees and their families. We are cooperating fully with the relevant authorities and assisting them in their efforts to establish the facts. As a precautionary measure, we are temporarily closing the Bengaluru on-campus daycare facility.”

Commissioner of Police for Bengaluru City, Seemanth Kumar Singh, has spoken about how they are carrying out an investigation, have booked some of the staff, and strict action will be taken against those found guilty.

Singh said, “As per the complaint, five names have been mentioned of the women staff who are working in a daycare facility in an IT sector company. We are currently going through the complaint and the videos that have been submitted as part of it. We are verifying the facts. Whatever has happened is a very serious issue, and we will take strict action. We were not aware of this incident earlier, but as soon as we came to know about it, a case was immediately registered.”

He added, “A Deputy Commissioner-rank officer, a lady officer, has been deputed for this case, and both she and the Joint Commissioner (East) are looking into the matter… The main concern is that the perpetrators should not escape accountability. If anyone is found to be involved or supporting such acts, strict action will be taken.”

The FIR names caregivers Manjula, Vijayalakshmi, Bhavani, Sindhu and Bind, all of whom have been booked under Section 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, and Section 75 of the Juvenile Justice Act, 2015.
