The designation of Parag Agrawal as the CEO of Twitter made headlines last week and for all the right reasons. Twitter is one of the biggest social media giants in the world and the appointment of an Indian as the CEO of the company is a milestone indeed.
It boosts the image of Indians globally and paves way for the appointment of more Indians in global companies.
Parag, however, is not the first Indian to be the CEO of a leading global company. Many Indians have been appointed as the CEOs way before him and they have done fabulous work for their respective companies.
Other Indian CEOs In Global Companies
Other than the ones mentioned in the video, there are many other Indians who are leading as CEOs in various companies. Nikesh Arora is the CEO of Palo Alto Networks Inc. He pursued BTech in Electrical from IIT BHU and went on to do MBA from Northeastern University in Boston.
Rajeev Suri has been the CEO of Nokia since 2014. He studied at Manipal Institute of Technology and joined Nokia in 1995.
Indra Nooyi is the CEO of Pepsico, the second largest beverage company in the world. She pursued her Bachelor’s from the University of Madras and MBA from IIM Calcutta following which she went to Yale School of Management for a Master’s degree in Public and Private Management.
Belonging to a humble family, she worked part-time to fund her education and other expenses in college. She has consistently ranked among the top 100 in the list of Most Powerful Women.
India has no dearth of talent and this long list of Indians at leading positions proves it right.
