Watch: Take A Look At The India’s First Food Museum In South India

India is the land of food. From north to south, from east to west, every corner has something unique to offer. We are also an agrarian country and currently the fifth-largest exporter of agricultural produce.

However, it has not always been like this from the beginning. Farming is a fairly modern practice. Humans were originally hunter-gatherers, leading a nomadic lifestyle. The shift from hunting to agriculture led to the foundation of human civilization as we know it today.

This history is unknown to most people. Not just this, but the knowledge about different Indian and world cuisines, crops, spices, and food culture is also limited to a few selected.

But hopefully, this ignorance towards the history and diversity of food would no more be widely prevalent as we now have India’s first food museum in Tamil Nadu’s Thanjavur.

The museum, first-of-its-kind, gives you a wholesome experience about everything related to agriculture and food. It is one of the many tourist destinations at Thanjavur that make the city the cultural capital of Tamil Nadu.

The headquarters of the Food Corporation of India (FCI) is also in that city, which is why it made the most sense to set up the museum there as well.

Don’t forget to visit it if you ever travel to Tamil Nadu.
