Tired of exposing your skin to harsh, chemical-based products that might leave rashes or scars on your skin? Not anymore, because Juicy Chemistry, based in tier-2 city Coimbatore, has come to your rescue.

What Is Juicy Chemistry?

Co-founded by Pritesh and Megha Asher in 2014, Juicy Chemistry formulates nutritious, pure and organic skincare products. They believe that skincare is the “most basic luxury” and everyone deserves to nourish and moisturize their body with good organic products.

Hence, Juicy Chemistry was initiated. Pritesh’s philosophy is simple, “Everything we need for healthy and beautiful skin is available from nature’s lap, and to believe that labs can produce better ingredients than Mother Nature is just a fad…”.

They mostly use organic nutrients and ingredients from nature’s lap to create products that can rejuvenate our skin. The founders believe that if we are concerned about what goes inside our body, we should be equally concerned about what goes on the outside.

“We bring you the right mix of foods to nourish your skin by embracing the simple yet effective properties of the ingredients. Produce obtained in its purest form, without any preservatives, additives, synthetic oils, or perfumes is at the heart of Juicy Chemistry”, writes the co-founders.

How The Idea Struck Their Minds?

Initially, Megha Asher was running a fashion line, while her husband, Pritesh Asher, was running a petrochemical business. One day, while on their routine shopping in the mall, they had a conversation with a sales executive at a launch of a new product.

Then, they had a look at the product, and they were shocked! They couldn’t believe their eyes when they read that a product that screams to be “organic” was formulated with ingredients that are otherwise used in making petroleum products, as Pritesh had recognized.

In an interview with Your Story, Megha said, “A product being marketed as ‘natural’ and ‘organic’ told a different story if you read the ingredient list. The blatant greenwashing was shocking and we felt we had to do something about it. Surely a product can be what it claims.”

And that’s how they launched Juicy Chemistry. They began in a 10×10 kitchen in Coimbatore with seed funding of Rs. 5,000. They have collaborated with several small-scale farmers and sell their products in more than 20 countries.

What Have They Achieved?

In their first year, the team generated a revenue of Rs. 17 lakhs which turned into Rs. 6.5 crores in 2019. In this financial year, they earned a revenue of Rs. 25 crores.

Also, in May 2020, they raised a funding of Rs. 6,50,000 from Mr. Amit Nanavati. And later, the company issued a press statement that said, Post deal, the startup’s valuation is being pegged at $ 2.5 million (approximately Rs 18.75 crore).”

When asked about what they will use the funds for, Pritesh told Economic Times, “We increased our workforce to cater to the increase in demand for our products. We had also earmarked funds to increase our marketing budget both, on and offline mediums.”

And now, in the next 18 months, they wish to earn a revenue of Rs. 100 crores!
