COVID-19 has exposed us to a whole new world where isolation is the new normal and social distancing is the norm of survival. On one hand, we have witnessed death toll, trauma and suffering and on the other hand, we have witnessed comparatively clean earth, good and helpful human beings and animals roaming free on the streets.

Today, we will be talking about some of the great samaritans whose donations for COVID-19 not only created headlines but helped us to restore faith in humanity.

Let’s take a look…

Donation of Captain Tom Moore

A 99-year-old British war veteran walked 100 laps around his garden and raised more than $17 million for the U.K.’s National Health Service (NHS). Captain Tom Moore set out to raise $1,250 (£1,000) for NHS charities together by walking around his garden in Bedfordshire 100 times, just before his 100th birthday.

Donation of Lokamani

Lokamani from East Godavari Andhra Pradesh offered two bottles of cold drinks to police officers deployed on field duty. Her innocent smile and good intention immediately drew the attention of lakhs. The biggest part of the story is that she did her bit of offering cold drinks to the cops from her meager income of Rs 3,500 per month.

Donation of Subhash Chandra Banerjee

Subhash Chandra Banerjee from West Bengal is an old retired teacher who donated Rs 10,000 to the state government relief fund from his little savings. The lean old man called the cops and made them overwhelmed by submitting his donation instead of asking for help.

Participation of Bengal Writers

Writers of West Bengal took an unique initiative to help the migrant workers. They came together and contributed to publishing an online book named ‘Swamanyay’ and collected 2 lakh rupees for the daily wagers.

Great contribution of the family members of Punjab Cops

Over 33,000 meals of dry ration along with 800 masks have been prepared by family members of police officials in Punjab. The wives and family members of Punjab cops are helping distribute rations in slum areas and the masks are distributed at every checkpoint by the mobile patrolling teams.

These simple acts of kindness bring a ray of hope in our lives when it is mostly dominated by gloom and darkness.

We hope to witness more such inspiring incidents and will fight this battle together with all our strength and positivity.
