After rapper and Congress leader Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu aka Sidhu Moose Wala was assassinated on Sunday, security around one of Bollywood’s biggest stars – our very own Salman bhai has been tightened.

A quick introduction of Sidhu Moose Wala is in order. Subhadeep Singh Sidhu, as he was originally named by his family, hails from the small village of Mansa in Punjab. He was born and raised in a Sikh family. Sidhu graduated from Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College with a bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering.

Now, what does a Mumbai-based superstar aka our Salman bhai have to do with the murder of a Punjab-based engineer-turned-rapper?

Punjab police has affixed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi as the key suspect in Moosewala’s murder. Facing more than 20 cases of attempt to murder, Bishnoi is currently lodged in Tihar jail after being arrested in 2015 by Faridkot police with foreign weaponry in his possession.

Police claimed that Lawrence belongs to the Bishnoi community – one that considers black bucks to be sacred to them. So when Salman was convicted in the black buck poaching case in 2018, Bishnoi had openly claimed that he’ll make sure Khan dies in Jodhpur itself – where Khan had killed a black buck during the shoot of “Hum Saath-Saath Hain” in 1998.

Although Bishnoi is currently behind bars, his gang members are known to be spread across several states while the strings are pulled from Rajasthan. Police have in the past arrested several people belonging to the Bishnoi gang who have claimed to have been involved in a plan to assassinate Khan.
