Airport look has become a legit and extremely important look that stars probably spend hours deciding up on and making sure it is perfect.

Being celebrities it makes sense as to why they would put in so much thought and time into making sure that they look presentable even when going to the airport.

But we have also seen that for a few years now certain stars have taken it a step further with some really crazy and ostentation clothing choices for something as simple as taking a flight.

However, Huma Qureshi perfectly voiced our feelings on this matter when she in an interview with VH1 said “Who the hell invented the airport look? I just want to know that” and further added, “Like why are people so dressed up in heels and jackets and blow-dried hair and red lipstick, where are they going?”

Her frustration with the intense pressure that is put on celebrities to be dressed impeccably even at airports came out when she was asked by Miss Malini to choose between a wearing a drab outfit to the airport or get on the red carpet without her hair done.

Qureshi instantly chose drab outfit at the airport and besides asking exactly what is the airport look she commented on the ridiculousness of focusing so much on fashion because “What’s happening? Do you know how much you have to walk? Do you know how uncomfortable it is? Like why are we doing this to ourselves girls? Like why?”

Her statement did make us wonder what exactly is the airport look, its importance and how finally new age Bollywood actresses are breaking away from that notion.

What Is Airport Look And Why Is It Important To Celebrities?

The phrase itself is pretty self-explanatory as in the look or outfit that one wears to the airport, with it often relating to the outfits celebrities or other public personalities wear who are likely to be caught by paparazzi.

While to us, this look comprises mostly of comfortable yet decent looking clothes, not more than jeans, shirt and some comfy sneakers, celebrities have somehow turned the airport into their personal runway.

The reason it is so important to celebs could be because of the paparazzi only and them choosing to post pictures of stars in embarrassingly drab clothes that is open for the entire world to then critique and pass judgements on.

With the amount of media attention that is on them, it is essential for celebs to be dressed in a smart manner so that they do not give fodder to tabloids to get unnecessary views.

Going Overboard But New Age Actresses Are Setting The Scale Right

For the past few years, the airport look has gone to another level only, with stars in a bid to make the latest fashion statement having overdressed that does not suit the reason of their visit.

Not saying to dress in a bathrobe, but wearing high heels, fancy dresses, 3 piece suits and such not only looks out of place but is also impractical for a long flight.

Kangana Ranaut, Ranveer Singh, Kriti Sanon, Sonam Kapoor and a few are ones that come to mind due to the outrageous outfits they’ve worn at the airport that question functionality.

While Sanon’s outfits are alright, high heels, extremely well-done hair, red lipstick and Ranveer’s red carpet suits are just going a bit too overboard.

Ranaut has been the one to have the strangest choice of clothing from wearing fancy sarees to plunging necklines and uncomfortable looking suits to high heels that are just not suited for an airport.

Deepika Padukone and Kareena Kapoor too have had their moments but after seeing Alia Bhatt, Shraddha Kapoor, Kalki Koechlin, Sonakshi Sinha, Anoushka Sharma and others they too are coming around and throwing away the craze surrounding airport looks.

Sinha comes to mind with her latest outfit being a simply gym outfit with track pants, tank top and a jacket over it that screams apt for the airport and all the hassle that comes with it. She added a dash of style with it being a bright red/orange colour, a baseball cap, and sneakers.

Many Bollywood actresses are choosing comfort and practicality over fashion and even choosing to let go of makeup and done up hair for ease.
