The UT is seeing a significant increase in tourist upsurge to the picturesque world-famous destination of the country as a result of various remarkable initiatives launched by the department under the leadership of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to provide tourists with a diverse range of attractions.
The Union government is enhancing the efforts of the J&K department of tourism with all necessary resources and assistance.
Liberal funding of a record budget allocation of Rs. 786 crores, Rs. 509 crores more than the previous budgetary allocation, speaks volumes about the Union government’s eagerness to improve tourist industry infrastructure and related services in Jammu and Kashmir.
Tourism Boost
On Sunday evening, a high-level delegation of Gulf entrepreneurs arrived in Srinagar. This comes two months after J&K Lt . gov. Manoj Sinha’s visit to Dubai, where he signed a slew of major Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with a variety of UAE companies. Over 30 CEOs, including Indian entrepreneurs, are in the valley for the next four days.
“There was a lot of interest in Jammu and Kashmir during the international summit (in UAE),” said Ranjan Prakash Thakur, the Principal Secretary of Industries and Commerce of J&K. “Most of them had reservations about the situation there (in Kashmir), that it is a conflict zone. We invited them so they could see the situation for themselves.”
On Tuesday, a cohort of Chief executives from the real estate, hotel management, development, food processing, and agriculture industries met with top Jammu and Kashmir officials, including Lt Gov. Manoj Sinha, to discuss their problems and concerns.
According to the CEO of a Dubai-based company, the delegation will attend various business events in the Valley, one of which will be held on 22 March at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC) in Srinagar.

The delegation will also visit several tourist locations, including Gulmarg and Pahalgam, in search of investment opportunities. LG Sinha will host a dinner for the visiting authorities.
Many exporters, start-ups, and women entrepreneurs from J&K will give pitch conferences, as well as an overview of the cottage and silk industry sectors, floor merchandising at SKICC, and artisan gatherings.
J&K Tourist Village Network Initiative
Manoj Sinha launched the J&K Tourist Village Network initiative to transform 75 villages in Jammu and Kashmir known for historical, scenic beauty, and cultural significance into tourist villages to give tourists a glimpse into the hospitality of people, unique culture, and traditions of the rural areas in J&K.
In addition to empowering youth and women through direct and indirect employment opportunities, the youth-led sustainable tourism initiative aims to strengthen the sparsely populated economy and public entrepreneurship.
According to an official, these 75 offbeat locations will provide adventure seekers, trekkers, and international visitors with an experience of nature’s wilderness while also creating a livelihood in the villages in the forest environment through home-stays, nature guides, trek operators, food stalls, and forest souvenirs.
A New Film Policy
The Jammu and Kashmir government has announced a new film policy to boost tourism and investment in the union territory. The policy called for the formation of the J&K Film Development Council (JKFDC). The policy aims to make Jammu and Kashmir’s infrastructure competitive on a national scale.
It guarantees services and assistance to facilitate filmmaking in the UT by establishing a Single Window Cell to grant permission for filming, preferably within 2 to 4 weeks. The Indian film industry is rekindling its love affair with Kashmir, a destination that was once a favorite of both filmmakers and audiences.
The Valley soon saw cameras trained on its blossoms, peaceful lakes, coniferous trees, and Dal Lake.
