What was your biggest fascination when you were a child?

I am sure, for most of us who grew up watching Hrithik Roshan and his Jadoo, the idea of aliens and the other extraterrestrial beings successfully captivated our hearts and minds.

But once we reach the threshold of adulthood, these theories and stories start catching dust and manage to secure only a small room in some corner of the mind. But you know what, we should not lose hope! Maybe it was the scientists who failed to gather the hints suggesting the possibility of life outside Earth.

Do not look at me—I am not saying that! It is one of the top astronomers who have claimed something similar in the premise of one of his new books.

Who Is This Astronomer?

Abraham Loeb is an Israeli-American theoretical physicist known for his exceptional contribution to astrophysics and cosmology. Currently, he is the Frank B. Baird Jr. Professor of Science at Harvard University.

But his outstanding credentials do not end here. He is the longest-serving chair of astronomy at Harvard. He also has hundreds of groundbreaking research papers to his name.

Moreover, he is known to have collaborated with some of the most prominent scholars of our time, including Stephen Hawkings.

In his book, Extraterrestrial: The First Sign Of Intelligent Life Beyond Earth, published last month, he talks of a rather unusual yet inquisitive creature and its supposed presence amidst us.

Do We CoHabit With The Aliens?

That would be an exaggerated statement. But, first of all, we must accept the existence of aliens.

Loeb believes that it is rather arrogant of us to deny the existence of any other being in this solar system. In one of his recent interviews, he said that the correct approach is to be modest and accept the fact that we are infinitesimal.

What Is The Ruckus About?

Before making any controversial claims, he lays down the facts. In October 2017, astronomers supposedly witnessed the first recorded interstellar interloper. They came to such a conclusion on account of its impossibly rapid speed.

It was not a comet, possibly due to its lack of outgassing or expelling gas and debris. On account of its unusual appearance and deviation from the expected trajectory due to some, likely mysterious force, many of the scientists at a Hawaiian observatory were unable to come to any conclusion.

What Does The Professor Have To Say About It?

Many of his colleagues had to come up with novel and exotic theories to comprehend this unnatural occurrence. Loeb believes that the object named 1I/2017 U1 ‘Oumuamua’ by NASA belonged to some other galaxy.

Therefore, according to him, it is a space junk made of advanced engineering by some alien habitation in some distant galaxy.

Since it was only photographed when it was on its way out, the shape was not very obvious. The spatial distribution that can fit the oddities of the object gave Leob a unique inkling. He believed that it was built in the form of a light-weight sail propelled through stellar radiation.

Seeing its unfamiliar path and speed, the professor also claimed that it could be an advanced form of decoy made by a much more advanced lifeform.

What Do Others Have To Say About It?

This peculiar theory has put him at odds with his peers. Loeb, although, has decided to ignore this perpetual culture of bullying and academic politics.

He says that the realm of science is already invested in much more abstract aspects of scientific disciplines that are more unlikely to bore results than what he likes to call ‘space archaeology’.

NASA has duly noted these findings and has refrained from any such debatable professions. It just mentions that this foreign element is unattached to any known star system and has been wandering through the Milky Way Galaxy before our recent rendezvous.

So let’s wait and watch, because you never know what tomorrow may bring!
