Till date, many people still hold the thought that comedy is an ill-paying field and you might earn a name from it but you can never earn proper money and standing from it. Well, this surely proves that wrong by showing some of the richest Indian comedians.
But when talking about the richest comedian in India, it is actually not the mainstream names like Kapil Sharma, Johhny Lever, Paresh Rawal or Rajpal Yadav. The real name is South cinema’s Kenniganti Brahmanandam who holds the title of the richest Indian comedian having a net worth of somewhere around $60 million.
Who Is Kenniganti Brahmanandam?
Kenniganti Brahmanandam or simply Brahmanandam is a popular Telugu actor and comedian who currently holds the Guinness World Record for having the most screen credits for a living actor. The 67-year-old performer has appeared in over 1,000 films till date and even received a Padma Shri in 2009 for his contribution to the art sector.
As per CA Knowledge, Brahmanandam’s net worth is estimated to be around Rs. 490 crores with his monthly salary being over Rs. 2 crores.
Brahmanandam is counted among one of the highest-paid comic actors in India even before names like Kapil Sharma, Bharti Singh and more.

As per reports, Brahmanandam charges anywhere between Rs. 1 to 2 crores for a film appearance and Rs. 1 crore for brand advertising.
According to reports, the actor who began his journey from minor roles to becoming one of the most sought-after comedians in the industry has assets worth over Rs. 350 crores.
A Catch News report stated that “Brahmanandam has Audi R8, Audi Q7, and Mercedes-Benz (Black), other than this he is also the owner of agriculture land worth crores. Besides this, Brahmanandam has a bungalow in posh area Jubilee Hills in Hyderabad.”
Starting his journey in 1986 with the film Chantabbai, Brahmanandam was debuted by director Jandhyala and is still working even after 31 years in the film industry.
However, Brahmanandam has been caught under fire for controversial and problematic statements like when he said for Anushka Shetty during Size Zero audio release that she is “a hot jalebi who everyone likes to eat.”
Many people took offence to his sexist and objectifying remarks of Shetty and again when he spoke about the late filmmaker Jandhyala’s alcohol problems in a game show. Soon after the late director’s wife Annapurna publically called out Brahmanandam for his remarks and denied any such claims and he even put out an apology to her afterward.
