A case involving Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan and two other people is suddenly coming up again almost 11 years after it happened. Apparently, almost a decade ago it is reported that in Mumbai Khan and two others allegedly assaulted a South African businessman and his father-in-law while they were all present at a hotel at the same time.

What Is The Case About?

The incident occurred on 22nd February 2012 at the Wasabi restaurant located inside the Taj Hotel in Mumbai, India. According to reports, Saif Ali Khan was present there along with his wife Kareena Kapoor Khan, sister-in-law Karisma Kapoor, and actors Malaika Arora Khan, and Amrita Arora.

While the females are not listed in the case, two other male friends also present at the time were Shakeel Ladak and Bilal Amrohi were included in the case. It is said that a disagreement broke out between the two parties with the other one being a South African businessman named Iqbal Mir Sharma and his father-in-law.

According to Iqbal, the fight broke out because he spoke up against loud noises that the actor and his friends were creating and asked them to quiet down. At this as per the complaint Saif and his friend apparently threatened and then punched Iqbal in the nose, which led to a fracture, and also hit his father-in-law Raman Patel.

Saif Ali Khan Assault case

While the three were said to have been arrested soon after the incident, they later were released on bail. Khan and his two friends were charged under sections 325 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code.

Now, the reason this old case is in the news again is that the trial for the case is expected to begin sometime next month. As per reports, the additional chief metropolitan magistrate, Esplanade court read out the charges against Saif Ali Khan and Shakeel and Bilal on 24th April 2023.

The court also issued summons to the witnesses for the recording of evidence and the next date of date is said to be June 15th which is when the trial is expected to start.

Saif Ali Khan’s team, however, alleges that it was Sharma who was making provocative statements and using curse words against their female companions which is why they got angry over initially.
