This World Toilet Day, November 19, join WaterAid India and Indian Ocean for the Sa Re Ga Ma Poo Concert at Nehru Park, New Delhi.
The evening will consist of some mind blowing performances by Indian Ocean and an opening performance by popular stand up comic Vikramjit Singh too.
WaterAid is an international charity established in 1981 which began it’s work in India in 1986.
India is home to most people practising open defecation.
Its vision is of a world where everyone, everywhere has safe water, sanitation and hygiene. Presently, WaterAid works in 37 countries worldwide, transforming millions of lives every year with safe water, sanitation and hygiene projects.
WaterAid reached 2 million people with safe water (71% rural, 21% urban & 8% small towns).
3 million people were reached with sanitation (78% rural, 15% urban & 7% small towns).
Their hygiene promotion work reached an estimated four million people, encouraging practices such as hand washing with soap, safe use of toilets, and safe storage of drinking water, food hygiene and menstrual hygiene management
Madhya Pradesh now officially holds the Guinness World Records for most people washing their hands!
This record attempt was initiated by WaterAid India and the Madhya Pradesh State Government with technical support provided by the DFID.
