Watch: Tamil Movies Non-Tamilians Must Watch That Are Not “Mass” Movies

A quick list of the quirkiest Tamil movies to watch over the weekend!

“Once you overcome the one-inch tall barrier of subtitles, you will be introduced to so many more amazing films.”

– Bong Joon-ho, Director of ‘Parasite’

On that note, it can be said that the one thing that unites such a diverse population in India is movies. We Indians, irrespective of cultural boundaries, are always thrilled when it comes to the release of a Shah Rukh Khan or a Rajinikanth movie.

Despite the language, our music, dance numbers, action scenes, and epic storylines through these films resonate with the entire country.

And due to such language and cultural barriers, we tend to learn only about the popular and big-budget films from other states. I, personally, wouldn’t have learned about the numerous small-budget or indie films if it wasn’t for the countless hours of scrolling through Netflix or Amazon Prime.

Therefore, it becomes important to highlight such under-appreciated films, because they face the unfair disadvantages of being low-budgeted, having non-commercial storylines, or being worked on by a less-popular crew- that is, anything that deems it “mass” as per Tamil film slangs. And for today, let us look at some of the brilliant and “non-mass” films.
