DC animated movies are one of a kind. As soon as Marvel started establishing itself in the cinematic universe with Iron Man, people started comparing Marvel’s movies with DC. Which to be fair, makes sense and Marvel wins that competition, hands down.
But, if you were a comic nerd like me you would know that Marvel’s comics, other than Spider-Man, don’t even come close to DC. DC comics are all about the nitty-gritty details of a character, the side characters, and the plot.
DC pays attention to character growth, has a smooth character arc and most importantly- you can relate to the emotions and the tragedies a character faces in one way or another.
Even with such rich literature and artwork, DC movies haven’t been able to portray its strength on screen till date. If you ask a hardcore DC fan, the closest a DC movie stayed true to the comics will be Zack Snyder’s movies.

But hey, if you want to get a taste of true DC, there’s no need to be disappointed. Along with its amazing comics, DC makes sure that the animated movies it is releasing are equally wonderful.
The fact that the animated movies stick to the comics in a literal ‘page to stage’ fashion, makes things all the more exciting.
So, before you step into the world of DC comics, it is only fair for you to ask for a taste of the DC world.
Here’s a list of few DC animated movies you must watch to get a better taste of the comics. Be ready to fall in love with the characters and understand the true essence of DC.
Personally, I feel that DC has a better character strength and its literary works are way better than Marvel.
Sure Marvel’s Cinematic Universe is tough to beat, but then again, DC’s cinemas aren’t exactly sticking true to the things that make us love DC. Worse, they are trying to be like Marvel in the cinematic universe by making characters like Batman crack jokes, adding vibrant colours and so on.
*sigh*
Well, let us hope that DC’s cinematic universe gets its act together one day. Till then, DC comics and DC animated movies is all we have.
