Not that many times on screen, have directors and writers plunged into the daily nuances of running a household. Tumhari Sulu is perhaps the most breezy, slice of life trailer I’ve watched in a long time – which I am now sure will also apply to the film.

After portraying serious roles in movies like Begum Jaan, Kahaani 2 & Hamari Adhuri Kahani – Vidya Balan’s work in Tumhari Sulu might just be the one that is closest to her own self.

Sulu’s character has no layers. Yup, none whatsoever. But that is exactly what makes her such a unique and interesting character. She is, who she is and is the happiest about that.

On one hand, we see her asking for an exchange for something she won in a contest but then we also see her becoming a sexy Bhabhi on a late night radio show. We like Sulu not only for what she has but also relate to her on an everyday level. Lack of pretence, and excess of her confidence makes Sulu a loveable character.

It’s also good to see Manav Kaul playing Sulu’s husband, in a never-seen-before avatar. Neha Dhupia appears as Sulu’s boss at a radio station and every other supporting character seems to be pulling off their bit of roles really well.

The music is catchy, and songs will sound familiar. One of the most popular numbers of Balan’s favorite actress Sridevi features in the trailer too.

You can’t say much of anything about screenplay from the trailer – but this looks like a Suresh Triveni win as moments from the trailer shout well of great direction.

We really got lucky to have caught the trailer at an exclusive preview of it. The official trailer launches tomorrow on 14th October and the film releases on 17th November 2017. Don’t miss both :)
