The recent terror attack in Kashmir’s Pahalgam has left everyone stunned. The attack, considered one of the biggest in Jammu and Kashmir, has killed 26 people and injured several others, most of whom were tourists who had come there for a break.
There is a massive uproar and sadness among many who are wondering how this could happen. Now, in some new videos circulating on social media, tourists seem to have captured the exact moment this tragic incident started to take place, turning the otherwise beautiful Baisaran Valley into a bloodbath.
What Do These Videos Show?
The 34-second video shared by CNN News18 shows a man walking through the Baisaran meadow when gunshots and screams are heard in the background. After a cut, the video shows the man trying to escape and talking about what is happening in stilted speech.

He said, “Yahan par dakun, attankwadio ka… hum log baal baal bache hain. Parmatma raksha karega.” (Here, there are dacoits, terrorists… we barely escaped. God will protect us.)

In another video shared by Umashankar Singh, a senior editor at NDTV, the terror attack is being filmed by someone who is asking their companion to leave. Singh captioned the video, “When terrorists were firing in Pahalgam and tourists were running here and there to save their lives…”
More gunshots can be heard in the video, along with people screaming and crying out in distress. According to some netizens, one can even see some of the victims lying flat on the ground, presumably killed.

According to reports, the terror attack that took place after noon, around 3 pm on Tuesday, 22 April 2025, had terrorists targeting randomly. As told by witnesses to security forces, two or three of the terrorists entered the grounds wearing military fatigues and fired at anyone in sight. Some reports also claim that the terrorists asked the tourists about their religion before killing them.
Considering the number of people who lost their lives, the Pahalgam terror attack is now the worst civilian terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir. The last one was the 2019 Pulwama strike. The Resistance Front (TRF) — an offshoot of the banned Pakistan-based jihadi group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) — has claimed responsibility for the attack.
As per reports, the reason for the attack was “demographic change” in the region. The TRF stated, “More than 85,000 domiciles have been issued to non-locals, creating a pathway for demographic change in Indian-occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IIOJK). These non-locals arrive posing as tourists, obtain domiciles, and then begin to act as if they own the land. Consequently, violence will be directed toward those attempting to settle illegally.”
