The Top Sports Stories Of The Week

-

In Sports, history is made every day. Here are the top stories of the past week:

» Indian Cricket suffers string of losses

» Andy Murray ranked 2 in ATP

» Sania Mirza and Martina Hingis win another title

Cricket: It is blues season for the Men in Blue as they seem to be losing everything that comes their way. After the 2-0 T20 series loss, having been put in to field first in the first ODI, the team walked on to the field rejuvenated and reinvigorated only to suffer a 5 run loss at the hands of fate. Call it bad luck, misfortune or whatever, the black-and-white of the situation is that the team was just not good enough that day as compared to their opponents. AB de Villiers led his team to victory by example, whereas his Indian counterpart couldn’t make the cut.

Tennis:

Andy Murray recently edged past Roger Federer to claim the 2nd spot in the ATP rankings. He is ahead by 220 points. Novak Djokovic is ranked 1 and is far ahead of the others. Stanislas Wawrinka is Ranked 4th, Tomas Berdych 5th, Kei Nishikori 6th and former world number one, Rafael Nadal, finds himself at the 7th spot. David Ferrer, Milos Raonic and Kevin Anderson also made the top 10.

The absolutely mesmerising pair of Indian Ace Sania Mirza and Swiss Miss Martina Hingis has added one more title to their bad, making their tally 8 for 2015. They were the top seed of the China Open and this time again, they did not disappoint. Living up to expectations, they eased through the tournament and went all the way, lifting that coveted trophy. What a year it has been for these two, and we still have a couple of months to go!

We will be back next week with much more, so stay tuned!
