The verdict of the trial declared victory in favour of Johnny Depp and awarded him $10 million concerning hoax with false accusations of abuse. The jury awarded Heard $2 million.
Johnny Depp’s attempt to bolster his star power to former heights required him to sue Heard for his previous failed London libel lawsuit against The Sun that described him as a “wife-beater”.
Although Depp breathes a sigh of relief with his statement – “the jury just gave my life back, I am truly humbled”, it’s a difficult time for both Depp and Heard to reverse the lingering effects of the courtroom accusations that portray them in a negative light.
While Depp was portrayed as a sexually and physically abusive drug addict and aging drunk, Amber proved to be at the epicenter of the show with her false allegations against Depp resulting in her public image being that of an unhinged and volatile woman capable of faking bruises and causing catastrophic damage to lives of those around her.
The Defamation Trial led by Depp had a strong edge prior to the verdict due to the efficient forensic investigation clearly bringing to the forefront the falsified information shared by Amber Heard. His lawyer fought tooth and nail to catch hold of every misleading evidence and dissected to find the truth, where all the voice notes and photographs essentially proved that Depp was the real victim.

Depp, no doubt, has certain popularity that is unmatched by many of his own contemporary contenders in the industry. But with his previous setback in the UK trial, it was much harder for him to present his case of defamation in the US where freedom of speech was given more weight and had equal or higher chances for the opposition party to win.
Regardless, in my opinion, the verdict was fair since it came from the jury who dissected and investigated every piece of evidence concerning both sides and found Amber acting with actual malice due to all the falsified evidence coming to the surface and her failure to substantiate actual points to come up with an answer.
While both Depp and Heard would face professional brunt in their field and might suffer from losses socially and lose out on certain opportunities, with time a gradual recovery will take place, at least for Depp and Amber might have to prove herself multiple times to gain trust.
