After the grand and lavish months-long extravaganza of the Ambani wedding, it is now time for the Adani wedding. But in an interesting twist, the wedding of Jeet Adani, the younger son of billionaire Gautam Adani and his fiancee Diva Shah was conducted in a very low-key manner.
The wedding an intimate affair, had rumours flying about how it would be even more expensive than the Ambani wedding or that Taylor Swift would be performing at the celebrations.
However, Gautam Adani refuted those rumours and speaking with reports last month said “Jeet’s wedding is on the 7th of February. Our way of life is like that of common people. Jeet’s wedding will be very traditional, conducted in a very simple manner.”
But is there a reason for this simplicity? Or is it just to do something different from the wedding of Anant Ambani the younger son of Mukesh Ambani, India’s richest man and Radhika Merchant?
The Simple Adani Wedding
The pr-wedding functions took place in Shantivan the residence of the billionaire family in Ahmedabad while the wedding ceremony happened at Shantigram, the Adani township. The wedding also included NGOs like Delhi’s Family of Disabled (FOD) and Chennai’s Kai Rassi to help contribute to the celebrations.
FOD created hand-painted glasses while there were stalls installed by bangle artist Bibaji Churi Wala and the father-daughter duo from Firozabad Munna and Nazmeen also made glass art pieces to be used as decoration.
Before their wedding, Jeet Adani and Diva Shah also visited the Mumbai airport branch of Mitti Cafe, where they handed out their wedding invitation to the employees in January.
Mitti Cafe is an NGO that provides employment opportunities for people with physical, mental and psychiatric disabilities and those from economically weaker sections.
The couple also launched a Mangal Seva initiative, which will provide financial assistance of Rs. 10 lakh annually to 500 newly married women with disabilities.
Gautam Adani posted on his X/Twitter writing “Jeet and Diva have pledged to ‘Mangal Seva’ by providing financial assistance of ₹10 lakh each to 500 newly married women with disabilities.”
The NGO FOD also collaborated with fashion designer Manish Malhotra to create custom-made shawls for the couple while handwoven Paithani sarees supplied by Jagdish Ji Shankari Paithani Sarees from Nashik and made by 400 karigars or artisans were given as gifts to guests.
Reports have also claimed that on the occasion of the wedding, Gautam Adani the Chairman of Adani Group has also donated a whopping Rs. 10,000 crore from his personal wealth to various social causes. This corpus will go toward funding initiatives including schools, medical colleges, and hospitals.

Exhaustion From Ambani Wedding
The wedding of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant which lasted from March to July was an event that took over basically all media portals, ruling social media and there was seldom a corner you could look at that would not have something related to it being posted.
Whether it was the many, many and I mean many festivities and functions related to the wedding, with a pre-wedding function held in March and the six days of never-ending celebrations in July during the main wedding period, or who was attending which event, performances from global artists like Justin Beiber, and more the amount of wealth and opulence one could see being showered was unimaginable to many.
Reports estimate that the total cost of the wedding could be between $300 million to $1 billion making it one of the most expensive weddings in history.
Other reports from LiveMint, The Economic Times, and Outlook Business, claim that the wedding festivities could have cost around Rs 5,000 crore.
The guest list was also a massive 1200 people long.
But, the wedding was also heavily criticised for the massive inequality of wealth it showcased among them and the average person in India. There were also criticisms that the wedding day resulted in a lot of traffic issues and noise pollution.
There was also seen a lot of exhaustion from the general public after the n-th number of functions related to the wedding and many on social media created parody videos or trolled the wedding claiming it would never end.
Some netizens thus believe that this route taken by the Adani family to have a simple and intimate wedding is to not get bashed for another show-off of wealth or just have people not care in the least.
Good PR For The Adani Family?
The recent few years have not been all that good for the Adani name with the Hindenburg report coming out and resulting in a massive dip in their stocks. Although there was some recovery, these several acts of charity and donations are rumoured to create goodwill around their name.
