It’s no news that the coronavirus outbreak has induced panic in millions of people around the globe. Thus, understanding information on the virus itself, its effects, and importantly- learning facts on living in the times of the said “Return of the Plague” becomes an act of undue importance. It provides another side to the fear-evoking stories to take measures in the right way.

The Science Behind Coronavirus:

Coronavirus is an RNA virus and can mutate itself in both humans and animals. This is specifically found in bats, snakes and certain camels. The family of this virus (Coronaviridae) includes other viruses ranging from Ebola and measles to the common cold.

Once in contact with, through the nose or mouth, the coronavirus attaches itself to cell receptors and then gets hold of the ribosomes in our cells.

The ribosomes are vital in making necessary proteins for our body. The coronavirus uses its RNA and modifies the function of ribosomes into making the protein that it wants, thus multiplying.

There is a ray of sunshine in this whole mess- coronavirus won’t fatally affect you if you have a good immune system. But again, toddlers, elderly and other less-immune people are still vulnerable.

Coronavirus In India:

A quarantine facility was set up by the Indian army in Manesar, Haryana, to test students returning from Wuhan, China, after the outbreak.

A student who returned to Kerala, India, from China was tested positive, leading to a nation-wide high alert.

Air India had sent a plane to Wuhan to bring back nearly 400 Indians back to the country.

We are well aware of these news articles and similar ones. Through many reliable news sources, we are constantly being updated about the severity of the outbreak, but they fail to provide clarity on this new kind of virus.

Here are some major things you probably already know:

  • Strictly maintain good hygiene.
  • Don’t come in contact with any person who is coughing and sneezing.
  • If you do have the above symptoms, plus shortness of breath, diarrhoea, vomiting, etc., go consult a doctor IMMEDIATELY.

Here Is What You Also Need To Know:

  • Get your queries regarding the coronavirus addressed by calling +91-11-2397 8046.
  • If you had travelled to China in the last 14 days, limit contact with relatives back in India. Stay in isolation. If you have any of the symptoms mentioned, call the number mentioned above and visit the nearest medical facility as advised.

Just so you know – you are already in a much better place if you or your loved ones had no recent travels to China. Regardless, it’s never wrong to be extra-cautious, and it’s even better if you could get hold of surgical masks for just normally travelling outside home.

January was off to a rough start with predictions about World War III, and now, this outbreak. We all had a 20/20 vision for 2020 but things have already started going downhill.

The state of the security of the lives of this era is so fragile that the Internet collectively has not only been sharing news but also has been sharing humour through memes and tweets. I feel that we are all mass mourning about the uncertainty of our existence behind this giant facade.

Yes, the virus has been speculated to have been spread from illegal Chinese wildlife markets. But here’s something we should do- it’s important to share facts, but no amount of wisdom and knowledge should give you an excuse to be racist.

China is already in an imploding frenzy, and we must understand, educate, and help to the best of our abilities

The main ancestral traits about us humans are to form societies and move in groups and the least we can do is to be strong and be there for our brothers and sisters of the world to kick corona’s butt.
