EZLabz Makes Lab Work More Accessible

98

During lockdown everything was done remotely: from work to doctor’s appointments. As restrictions began to be lifted, many were still seeking remote options for most of their day to day activities. One of those has to do with medical visits. People want to avoid small spaces with a large number of daily visitors.

Several medical practices continue to have patient check ups through digital visits. Doctors connect with the patients through different online platforms that allow video calls. They can later have any medication delivered directly to their house. But what happens when tests need to be done? Will patients be required to go in for a urine test or bloodwork? Your obvious answer probably was “yes.” However, the truth is, they do not even need to visit the doctor’s office or the lab to get those procedures done.

Now you wonder how it is possible to have tests done from the comfort of your home. The answer is simple: EZLabz. Plenty of apps nowadays connect users to someone who performs the task they need: drivers, deliveries, cleaning, you name it. EZLabz connects patients to licensed and insured Phlebotomists–Lab Technicians–who will come to your residence to draw blood or pick up a urine sample and deliver it to LabCorps or Quest Diagnostics on your behalf.

EZLabz was founded four years ago when doctors were no longer drawing blood at their offices. They realized there was an opportunity to make this process “EZier” on everyone, so they began providing a concierge at home blood draw and urine collection service. This is paid privately–the cost is $70–and patients will receive the visit of a certified Lab Technician.

This service was originally created thinking about three extremely important groups:

  1.           Elderly Patients: for them it is more difficult to attend a doctor’s office or a lab, so having someone come to their residence makes the procedure more accessible.
  2.           Busy Adults: most adults lead busy and inflexible schedules that require them to be at work for long periods of time. For this reason, their assigned Technician will come to their home before they have to get to work, making it possible for them to get their tests done in a timely manner.
  3.           Kids: rather than children having to skip school for a day to get their tests done, the procedure will be done at home right before they go to school.

For these groups of people to be able to continue with their regular schedules–particularly busy adults and children–the Phlebotomists can come to their houses at any time between 7AM and 12PM from Monday to Friday, and between the hours of 8AM and 11AM on Saturday.

How is it possible for EZLabz to get this job done? They have partnered with Mobile Phlebotomy Services and work as the middleman to connect the patients to the best phlebotomy service in their area. Their process is very simple: the patients have blood drawn or urine samples picked up, and their prescription and samples are immediately delivered to the lab for them to process it. Once they have the results, both doctor and patient will receive a copy of them.

As the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions began to be lifted, EZLabz noticed it took people between two to three weeks to make an appointment with LabCorp or Quest Diagnostics, and most patients did not want to be in a closed, crowded waiting room. Because of this, their outreach expanded, and more individuals have been utilizing their services. Patients feel safer having these procedures done at home, and EZLabz guarantees excellent service in the hands of a professional Phlebotomist.
