ED Vox Pop: We Ask Gen Z If Terrorism Is Connected To Religion

-

ED VoxPop is where we ask people different survey questions and get responses to conduct a sort of poll of our own.

On 22 April 2025, a group of terrorists opened fire on tourists in Baisaran Valley, near Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir. The attack happened in the afternoon when people enjoyed the natural beauty. The peaceful hills suddenly echoed with gunshots and screams.

At least 28 people were killed, including 25 Indian tourists, two foreigners, and one local person. Around 20 others were injured. Eyewitnesses said the attackers were armed with rifles and wore army-style clothing. They forced some people to recite religious verses before shooting. One woman survivor said the terrorists told her to “go and tell Modi.”

The group behind the attack is believed to be The Resistance Front (TRF), a group linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba, a banned terrorist outfit. This was one of the deadliest attacks on civilians in Kashmir in recent years. The Indian government has launched an investigation and increased security in the area.

This shocking incident has once again raised tough questions. Why do such attacks keep happening? Is this only about politics, or is religion being misused as a weapon? We asked a few Gen Z voices how they see it.

The Pahalgam attack wasn’t just a terror strike—it was a direct blow to humanity. Tourists, families, and children were targeted in cold blood. No faith, belief system, or political cause can justify this horror.

Gen Z isn’t staying silent. They are asking questions that older generations often avoid. Some are linking such acts to radical versions of religion. Others are calling out hate and violence, regardless of where it comes from. What’s clear is that this generation is not ready to sugar-coat the truth. They want real talk, real accountability, and real action. Because for them, this isn’t just politics – it’s about people, peace, and the right to live without fear.
