The India leg of Diljit Dosanjh’s Dil-Luminati world tour has been a rage to witness. The Punjabi musician’s concert, happening in 12 major cities of the country, sold out its tickets within minutes showing the popularity and interest the Indian audience has for live concerts.
As per reports, Dosanjh sold out almost one lakh tickets during the pre-sale of his tour and the frenzy was almost at par with the craze for international artists like Taylor Swift, Coldplay and more.
However, given the scale of the tour, it is quite interesting what Diljit Dosanjh said in his recent concert.
What Did Diljit Dosanjh Say?
During his recent concert in Chandigarh, Diljit spoke about his frustration with the lack of proper facilities in India for live shows.
On 14 December he gave a stern ultimatum that he will not be hosting any more concerts in India until the infrastructure for concerts is improved.
In videos shared by fans online, Diljit can be heard speaking in Punjabi and saying, “I want to address the authorities—India lacks adequate infrastructure for live performances. This sector generates significant revenue and provides livelihoods for many. Please pay attention to this area.”
He added, “I’ll try next time to ensure the stage is in the centre so you can all gather around it. Until then, I won’t be doing shows in India, that’s certain. So please it’s my request to the administration to improve the infrastructure. Rather than causing trouble for artists, work on fixing the infrastructure.”

It is unclear how official this statement is and whether Diljit truly won’t be hosting any more Indian concerts until infrastructure has improved, but this does raise an interesting point about the need to focus on concert tourism in India.
Diljit’s recent concerts in India have highlighted the need of the hour. In October after Diljit’s Delhi concert, Beant Singh middle-distance runner posted several photos and videos of the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi where the event was held.
In his post the Asian Youth gold medallist showed how the stadium’s track-and-field area was littered with garbage, alcohol containers, and even athletic equipment had been damaged.
The Sports Authority of India (SAI) which owns the stadium promised a clean-up in 24 hours.
There was even widespread criticism of Zomato’s handling of the concert tickets that were sold out within minutes but were then found to reselling at exorbitant prices. This is not the only case with Coldplay’s upcoming Indian concert in January also facing the same issue.
Even though two extra dates were added along with another stop besides just Mumbai for Coldplay’s concert, there were still several issues with the sale of the tickets on Bookmyshow with many actual fans not being able to get tickets.
It is time that attention be paid to the concert infrastructure especially since it seems that international interest in Indian concert audiences is rising.
Recently Dua Lipa performed in Mumbai in November, Bengaluru’s Bandland also had an interesting line-up, and Greenday headlining the Lollapalooza festival happening in March next year in Mumbai just to name a few.
Ed Sheeran also held his concert for the +–=÷× Tour (The Mathematics Tour) in March in Mumbai and will be holding a longer leg in India covering multiple cities in 2025.
Even K-pop which has largely ignored India for its concerts and fanmeets has started to show interest with many artists coming to perform in the country.
The K-Wave Festival held in Mumbai and Bengaluru in October had names like EXO’s Suho, and Hyolyn while the K-Town Festival held on 14 December had BamBam from GOT7, EXO’s Chen and Xiumin performing.
