Dear Shankaracharya, No, Rapes Don’t Happen Because Women Enter The Shani Temple, They Happen Thanks To Your Kind Of Ideologies

-

The Shankaracharya who has a four-tiered name said something which people usually say when they are on weed. He said, “Incidents of rape will increase if women are allowed into the inner sanctum of Shani Shingapur temple.”

You might think that he is just an old guy who is being unreasonable and illogical. But wait! He has a superb logic behind it. “The women are worshipping Shani in the temple. By doing so, Shani’s eyes would fall on women and this would result in an increase of rape incidents.”

One thing is clear that higher posts in religion do not necessarily imply wisdom.

Sai Baba Not a God, Only Rich Can Be

Another statement was made by the Shankaracharya who is known for his hate against worshipping of Sai Baba. According to him, worshipping of unworthy fakirs is inauspicious and it will obviously lead to calamities like the drought in those areas. Here he mocks drought-hit Maharashtra by being insensitive, unscientific and orthodox.

However, the statement regarding rape should be given more publicity as it is a sensitive topic to be raised in India where feminism is working just fine.

Mocking a Historic Change

The Shani Shingapur temple has broken its 400-year-old tradition by letting women enter the inner sanctum. As it is said, Rome was not built in one day. The social worker Trupti Desai has been fighting for this right since years. At times, she had been detained, beaten and even harassed. The breaking of the rule was seen as a landmark incident which signifies how women are not behind men in any manner. It can be clearly seen that people are finally evolving from their old self and leaving behind their obstinate ideologies.

As soon as you feel proud of your country, some Shankaracharya mumbles something sexist and stupid. Shankaracharya is giving people who have such bad intentions another senseless reason to commit a crime. Now that the old man has dignified it in a manner, people with such deliberations will start raping women inside the temple and then claim the defense of Shani’s eyes?

And you know what would be the most unethical part? Shankaracharya giving another statement after that saying, “I told you already”

What to Expect?

Raping women of her modesty and then claiming the defense of God? Swaroopanand is giving lawyers some serious competition.

Twitter has gone berserk over his statement but that is Twitter’s job, and it would not bring a change in Swaroopananda’s ideology.

But I’m sitting here waiting for some Swaroopanand devotees to claim that media mistook/misinterpreted his arguments.

Because I have seen, heard so many foolish arguments by people holding high dignity or office that I know now, that taking everything or rather anything seriously is injurious to mental and social health.

It feels like it was yesterday only when some panchayat told that chowmein causes rapes, or mobile phones or jeans or burkha. But now it is God. Worshipping God will get you raped.

Limelight or Moksha?

Maybe he just needed to come in the limelight and what an excellent way to do it. This is called publicity gimmick. But maybe not. His past records are a proof that he does not think before he speaks.

Dear Swami, If your next aim is politics then you are on the right path.

Kudos to the Shankaracharya of Dwarka-Sharda Peeth Swami Swaroopananda Saraswati who has made it clear that religion (or Hinduism, for that matter) is not his cup of tea.
