Breakfast Babble: ED’s own little space on the interwebs where we gather to discuss ideas and get pumped up for the day. We judge things too. Sometimes. Always. Whatever, call it catharsis and join in people.

It’s Sunday today. Sunday, a day when the newspaper is thicker than your Physics textbook and a better part of the day is spent reading the thirty odd pages because let’s accept it, the glossier the paper the harder it is to understand.

As a child, no one forgot to stress the importance of ‘Speaking Tree’ in your life. Reading ‘Speaking Tree’ would guide you and help you deal with life situations is what they said. Now two things went horrendously wrong here one, I was in grade two and there were no life situations that needed dealing and second ‘Speaking Tree’ is boring.

Speaking Tree is NOT Spiritual!

My first encounter with Speaking Tree made me averse to spirituality. For a seven-year-old, those big giant words made no sense and to top it all it had no pictures. Even the tree at the center wasn’t pretty to look at.

Now my point is simple if it’s so important for people to be spiritual and to be able to connect with God don’t read two columns of generalized advice. No two people have the same issues or as the tree puts it ‘situations in life’.

We all deal with things differently. How do you expect to benefit from an advice that is catered out to half of India? Speaking Tree has just generalized spirituality and put someone like me forever away from it.

So this is Sunday do not waste your time reading irrelevant stuff that makes no difference in your life. If you need peace of mind then the modern day therapy is ‘MEMES’, I’m sure it’ll at least make you laugh.

  1. Whenever this author comes up with something new, or perhaps, to be more correct whenever ED brings out anything from this author it comes with a blow. Not just with a novel subject, but also an equally fun content along with it. I’m someone who has only had the experience of getting less eco-friendly with every read of anything in the Speaking Tree but, such articles just validate the eccentric aren’t eccentric always, that there are blogs which are to be read and not just forwarded on the basis of the headline.
