Be it summers or winters, one trend that never goes out of style is Boho-chic. Boho-chic fashion is exclusively for women and draws inspiration from the bohemian and hippie culture. “Boho” is an abbreviation for bohemian, who were travelers or refugees from Europe.
It is tied to the vintage phenomena in fashion and has been going on since the year 2000 but became popular after actress Sienna Miller started sporting bohemian style clothing in her movies as well as in her real life. Boho chic combines natural, colorful, folk yet simple and fresh pieces. Boho is all about looking individual and innate. Basic tones are the best with splashes of colors like orange, olive, and magenta. Skirts and floral shirts are fine. However wearing baggy outfit is not Boho at all. The new-age bohemian trend is all about slimmer silhouettes, well coordinated prints and contemporary accessories that either pair well with current trends or create their own.
Accent your Boho outfit with jewelry made out of natural materials, or in shapes inspired by nature. Try a necklace with a feather charm, wood bangles, or earrings made out of shells. For fall and winters, Boho outfits can be rocked by using layers, textures, fringe, furs, and neutral tones. Have fun with this style and don’t be afraid to mix patterns!
This trend is also quite popular in India. A new company called Global Desi started by entrepreneur Anita Dongre, has come up with a new line of Boho chic garments with distinctive block prints, Indian motifs and embellishments on contemporary tops and kurtas that can be whimsically matched with Churidars, Patiala, Leggings and even shorts. Boho-chic outfits ruled the ramp for the majority of the time by designer Priyadarshini’s garments line which she showcased on day two of the Lakme Fashion Week.
