Each one of us has grown up watching Disney cartoons such as Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and Goofy and we owe our childhood to them.
However, once you get to know about these alleged dark secrets of Disney and its parks, you would doubt the company’s efforts to bring you the “happiest place on Earth”.
1. Walt Disney Was An FBI Informant
Not many people know that Walt Disney had a special relationship with the then FBI director, J. Edgar Hoover.
Due to this friendship, Disney was one of the rare studios which was allowed to film inside the FBI headquarters in Washington.
As a return gesture, Disney granted the FBI access to all the Disney parks and film scripts, which FBI used to influence time and again.
Reportedly, Disney even testified against a group of protesting animators before the House Committee at the behest of the FBI.
2. Disney Was Responsible For Lemmings Committing Mass Suicides
Disney was responsible for feeding the notion in the minds of people that Lemmings often commit mass suicide when their population grows out of control.
While shooting for a movie called White Wilderness (1958), Disney cleverly used edits and angles to deceive the viewer into thinking that what they were seeing, was a natural lemmings migration.
The closing shot of the film shows a lake filled with dead bodies of the lemmings, but in reality, the lemmings did not jump on their own-
They were pushed by the Disney film crew.

3. There Is No Clear Explanation Regarding Abandoned Parks
Some Disney parks have been abandoned without any clear explanation, with the most controversial one being the River Country, Disney’s first water park.
While Disney maintains that River Country was closed down because of dwindling footfall, the reality is pretty shocking.
In 2001, “Naegleria Fowleri”, a brain-eating amoeba was discovered in the lake surrounding River Country. This lake was the major source of water for all the water slides.
Therefore, some sources argue that the park was closed because of this amoeba that directly attacks the human brain.
What is even more intriguing is that a guest died in 1980 because of the same amoeba but even then the River Country park remained functional and was only closed down more than 20 years later in 2001.
4. Mysterious Death Of Debbie Stone
18-year-old Debbie Stone was a hostess on the ride, America Sings, at Disneyland California, and her job was to bid farewell to the leaving audience.
But only 9 days later, Debbie’s body was found mysteriously crushed between a rotating wall and a stationary one.
Some members of the audience admitted to hearing screams from backstage but ignored them, thinking all of this to be a part of the performance.
Till this date, the mystery of her death has not been properly solved.
5. Disneyland Reports Numerous Incidents of People Spilling Ashes of Their Loved Ones
Since the 1990s, there have been numerous incidents where people have been caught spreading the ashes of their loved ones throughout Disney theme parks.
This occurrence has become so common, that Disney has a trained, dedicated staff just to handle such occurrences.
This crew uses sophisticated vacuum cleaners to remove the ash particles from the air and prevent them from entering the lungs of the tourists.
From the above secrets, you can clearly understand that Disney could have been a vicious corporate (we don’t know) under the guise of a friendly company working for the betterment and happiness of children and adults alike.
You won’t be able to look at your favorite Disney cartoons the same way, now that you know these ‘alleged’ dark secrets of Disney.
