The partygate scandal involving Boris Johnson and his staff have caused widespread public anger.
The UK was in strict lockdown with alarming Coronavirus infection and death rates in May 2020. An alcohol-laden party took place at the gardens of 10 Downing Street. A hundred invitations were sent to government staff by Martin Reynolds, principal private secretary of Boris Johnson. Ultimately forty people attended the party held on May 20, Johnson and his wife were present.
Criticism against Boris Johnson’s irresponsible behaviour has ignited further this week as senior civil servant Sue Gray’s report finds multiple government parties took place flouting lockdown rules. The huge blow came when four of his senior aides, policy chief Munira Mirza, communications director Jack Doyle, chief of staff Dan Rosenfield and principal private secretary Martin Reynolds resigned.
Some Conservative MP’s have submitted letters of no confidence against the prime minister. Public anger is not coming to a pause. Many members of both the opposition and Conservative party are demanding his resignation.
