16 year-old Mike Chelsen on his inspirations, dreams and his track ‘Starlight’!

-

Dreams and success never see any age, it just comes out of nowhere like a breeze (or sometimes maybe like a wind). What makes it possible is the power and will to not give up after the first bummer. That’s what 16 years adolescent Mike Chelsen had in mind when he set his foot on the threshold of the music world. Chelsen carries three elements within him: individuality, uniqueness, and boldness, which made him the arising young pop star. Well, teenagers do not have it easy already; exams, relationships, sexuality, bullying, parental and peer pressure, and many more. Enduring everything along with his passion, our boy has got a lot on his plate.

Mike Chelsen is half-Spanish and half-Italian which influenced his own distinctive style. His sense of fashion vividness gave him a chance to stand out in the crowd.  He believes “Being Homophobic is so 2019. It’s now 2020. The new thing is accepting people.” His school life had been a bit rough, with being vulnerable to constant bullying, depression, and suicidal thoughts. But don’t worry, Mike had people who got his back, and the prominent one of them was Mr.Chelsen, also the genesis of his stage name, as well as a way of showing him respect. His parents also showed him constant support and always encouraged him to do something big in life. That’s what every parent should be. Mike Chelsen even talked about his sexuality, he identifies himself as a bisexual but his love life is yet under covers. The privacy of his life is his go-to thing.

Talking about his music career, Mike recently released his single “Starlight” which is available on Spotify. His verified account already has 62 monthly listeners. If you close your eyes and listen to the song, you would realize how deep is the pain and as the melody progresses, one would think the voice would crack, but he holds on to it. Such is the strength of the song. The lyrics might give the idea of a love song, but rather it’s the agony one feels within. The feedbacks actually motivated him to work hard and he can see his future composing better music, going viral on the internet. Mike Chelsen is taking his sweet time of creation and does not want to do anything in haste. He is already onto his next project which is anticipated to get released by the end of this year.

When it comes to his musical inspirations, the list starts with Lady Gaga, followed by Elton John, Michael Jackson, and David Bowie. He remembers the time when Lady Gaga hugged him through her music during his low days, giving him the spine he needed back then. Mike believes in trend-setting and making a change in the existing field. All of the mentioned musicians had their name stamped in the books of chords and tunes, designing their own styles. Each one of them had a munificent and outrageous sense of music which made them the ultimate legends.

We scrolled through his Instagram feed, and we are amazed than ever. A colorful, vibrant feed, just like his personality. Making a headgear and costume out of CDs to adorning his body with yellow barricade tape, standing on a high wedge heel; it takes a lot for a high school guy to dress up like that. When the world ridicules you for standing out different, Mike ripped off the mockeries and said to f-off. With a total of 33k on Instagram, this boy is winning hearts day by day. Not only that, he already is having several fan pages on social media platforms. Mike Chelsen, the new definition of guts and boldness, no doubt, will reach the stars; because why not.

Concluding with a piece of advice from Mike Chelsen, “It is high time to the world an inclusive place. We are in 2020 and what we don’t deserve is queerphobia, racism, discrimination, because people are already having a hard time. Let’s not make it harder.”
