The Om Raut directed Adipurush has been in the news since its very inception, but while earlier it had been due to extremely positive hype for seeing Ramayana in a different light, especially after Raut’s success with Tanhaji it soon turned into a string of controversies as soon as the teasers dropped.

From bad VFX to Ravana being turned into an extremely modernised version to many other things the film starring Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, Sunny Singh and Saif Ali Khan soon became the butt of a joke and issues.

Reportedly made on a whopping budget of Rs. 600 crores, the film though opening with Rs. 340 crores on its first weekend has seen a big crash in the week with collections dropping by almost 75% according to reports.

The film has come under fire for extremely mischaracterising the religious characters, colloqualised dialogues, poor CGI and even outright copying scenes from several Hollywood and Western films.

Adipurush Copied From West?

Ravana’s Game Of Thrones Connection

Ravana’s fur outfits and fashioning have been said to give off a Game of Thrones impression, given how several characters in the show would wear such outfits themselves.

Furthermore, Raavan’s aerial vehicle Pushpak Viman has also been heavily criticised for being turned into a strange demonic bat-like creature that looks closer to the dragons that Daenerys Targaryen owned.

Even Ravana’s Lanka has been said to be looking like a set from GOT itself.

Avengers Scene Copied

In the Adipurush scene, Lord Ram (Prabhas) along with Lakshman (Sunny Singh), Lord Hanuman (Devdatta Nage) and Sugriva are all preparing to battle Ravana (Saif Ali Khan) and the camera pans around them taking out their weapons just as Sugriva gives out a roar.

This has been said to be taken shot for shot from the Avengers (2012) iconic scene where all the main characters assembled on screen for the first time.

Adipurush’s Lanka or Thor’s Asgard

The look of Ravana’s Lanka has also been said to be eerily similar to Thor’s, another Marvel character, planet Asgard, specifically the main opening shot of the city.

Planet Of The Apes Copy

Sugreev’s character has been called out for looking extremely similar to that of Caesar the rebellious titular ape character from the Planet of the Apes franchise. Especially after Ram, in the movie, applies his blood as tilak on Sugreev’s forehead the entire look is extremely similar to his from the movie Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.
