The English summer is here. And after 4 years, the Indian cricket team is all set to go back to English shores for a summer-long series that will see them face off against England in Tests, ODIs and T20s. India’s tour of England in July will be India’s shot at redemption after the disastrous Test tour of 2014 when they were walloped 3-1 by the hosts.
India’s tour of England will also be another chance for Captain Virat Kohli to prove his naysayers wrong and finally score heavily in the Island nation. After a hugely successful second stint in Australia, Kohli can hope to replicate that form in his second stint in England.
Captain Kohli had originally planned on playing a few matches for the county club, Surrey to prepare himself for the English summer. Alas, injury has forced him to take a leave of absence and Kohli will instead, play just the warm-up matches before the official tour begins.
India’s tour of England will also be an opportunity for the youngsters in the team such as Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Siddharth Kaul and Yuzvendra Chahal to prove their mettle on their first overseas tour.
