The Premier League concluded with yet another stellar season. Defending champions Leicester City couldn’t hold on to their crown, surrendering it to Chelsea, who went on to win it in style with one game in hand and rejuvenated their status as one of Europe’s elite.

From all that happened on the last day of this amazing season, let’s take a look at the last match day and what made this day special:

#1. Harry Kane Wins The Premier League Golden Boot:

Oh, what a player.

Harry Kane has answered every critic who called him a one-season wonder by winning the Premier League Golden Boot for being the highest scorer in the league for the 2nd year in a row.

And he scored 7 goals in his last 2 games to do that, with a haul of 4 goals against defending and crumbling champions Leicester City on matchday 37 and 3 goals against Hull City on the final day to bring his total to a staggering 28 goals, even though he missed 3 months due to injury.

Shine on, lad! Shine on!

#2. Chelsea Finish Their Season With A Bizarre Win:

Although it was all smiles for Antonio Conte and his team who won the Premier League with a dominant scoreline of 5-1 against Sunderland, it was a bizarre one at that.

Chelsea legend John Terry made his final appearance for the club today in the league and was substituted just 26 minutes after the match BEGAN (His jersey number being 26), given a guard of honour by Chelsea players as the play was stopped.

Well, being champions does have its perks.

#3. Liverpool Finally Make It To Europe, ALMOST:

Liverpool finally got rid of the bad luck and finished a respectable 4th on the table after defeating Middlesborough to get a chance to qualify for the UEFA Champions League. It was a tough road for them with a lot of injuries throughout the season but the men in red stayed strong and did it for their fans.

Now all that stands between them is a 2-legged playoff fixture and we can finally see Liverpool make it to the Champions League group stages yet again.

#4. Arsenal Lose Out On A Champions League Spot:

Oh, the horror. But well, the necessary horror?

Arsenal defeated rivals Everton by a score line of 3-1, even though the Gunners were down to 10 men for almost 80 minutes.

Arsenal finished 5th on the table, below Liverpool and above Manchester United and lost out on their favorite 4th spot as it was Liverpool who maintained their position, there.

This is the first time in almost 2 decades that Arsenal isn’t gonna be qualifying for the UEFA Champions League, be it via a direct spot by finishing in the top 3 of the Premier League or by getting the 4th spot and qualifying via a play-off fixture.

If this gets Arsene Wenger sacked, his could just be the blessing in disguise for its rejuvenation as a club to reinstate itself as a European and English powerhouse.

#5. The Review Of This Season And How It Sets The Tone For The Next Season:

Talking about other teams, it ended on a very disappointing note for Manchester United even though they finished their season with a final day win. They could only manage a 6th place finish, even after signing global superstars like Pogba, Mkhitaryan, and Ibrahimovic.

Manchester City, who were pegged as title contenders due to their coach and a brilliant squad managed to get the third place while Tottenham continued its ascent and finished 2nd, courtesy of their world class players being Harry Kane and Dele Alli (Jan Vertonghen and Hugo Lloris being the other two).

If this season is to be seen, I feel Manchester United will definitely make a good case for a top 4 finish next season, with the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City rounding off the top 4 along with Tottenham. Liverpool and Arsenal need to up their consistency in order to compete at the highest level and need a makeover for their respective squads.

Till then, Chelsea have all the right to enjoy their amazing title win!
