There are many flea markets in the capital city where people find time to go in numbers everyday to get their hands on the coolest products at unbelievable prices.
No malls and showrooms can replace these markets. The sorted aisle and price tags can never replace the hustle bustle, the fight for the last piece and the thrill in bargaining.
Everyday is a black Friday sale in these Delhi flea markets :
1. Sarojini Nagar :
One of the most famous markets in Delhi, this one is packed with amazing clothes at throw away prices. Sarojini Nagar is 3 km away from the South Campus of Delhi University and is visited by the college crowd.
The clothes here range from the simplest PJs to the raddest sequin dresses. If you’re lucky you might even find clothes from brands like Zara!
Make sure you brush up your bargaining skills before you visit this market to get the best prices.
Apart from clothes you can find cheap make up dupes, chunky jewelry, handbags and other accessories.
How to Reach :
Take the yellow line metro to INA and then an auto to Sarojini Nagar Market.
Timings :
Monday to Sunday- 10:00 A.M. to 9 P.M.
You may hear that Sarojini Nagar Market is closed on Mondays but there is much cheaper weekly bazaar that replaces the normal market.
2. Majnu Ka Tila :
Officially called the New Aruna Colony is a Tibetan colony. You will find the coolest, most colorful T-shirts here for about Rs. 200-300. You can also find nice jewelry and chic footwear. This place is also famous for it’s Tibetan food so when you visit, do feast on some delectable momos.
How to reach? :
It is near the Kashmere Gate Metro Station at a walking distance.
Timings :
Everyday from 11:00 A.M. to 7:30 P.M.
3. Daryaganj :
This is not a flea market for clothes but this is every book lover’s heaven. You can find the most amazing books here at junk prices.
The market is huge and the books are scattered all over the place, you need a keen eye to find what you’re looking for but you can find best sellers for the price of junk. The books are sold by weight.
How to Reach? :
The market has no direct connectivity by metro but one can get off Chandni Chowk Station and then get a rickshaw to Daryaganj.
Timings :
Every Sunday from 7:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M.
But the good books get picked out early.
4. Karol Bagh :
This market needs no introduction. It is a vast market and you can get anything here. Apart from being Asia’s biggest electronics market, Karol Bagh is home to one of the biggest flea markets in the capital city. The place is also famous for it’s dupes and high copies of branded belts, bags, clothes, shoes and make-up.
How to reach :
The market starts right from the pavement of the Karol Bagh Metro Station which lies on the blue line.
Timings :
10:00 A.M. to 10:00 P.M.
Closed on Mondays.
5. Chandni Chowk :
Right in the heart of the capital, Chandni Chowk is always jam packed with people. The place is never quite. Apart from being famous for it’s lip-smacking food, Chandni Chowk has a huge market for clothes especially bridal lehengas, sarees and suits. It also has many jewelry stores.
Chandni Chowk also has a market for all the photographers out there with the lowest prices on lenses and other accessories. You can also find vintage cameras here.
How to reach? :
The market is right next to the Chandni Chowk Metro Station
Timings :
Monday to Saturday.
10 A.M. to 8 P.M.
6. Sadar Bazaar :
This is one of the largest markets which offers every sort of household item known to mankind. You will find anything to everything that is used in a household here. It is a whole sale market but most of the shops also cater to retail customers.
It has a very big toy market for kids. The market also has decorative items for houses and is especially abuzz during Diwali.
How to reach? :
The Sadar Bazaar is approachable from Rama Krishna Ashram Marg Metro station as well as Tis Hazari Metro Station via electric rickshaws.
These are few of the best flea markets in Delhi. All these places stay very crowded so make sure you take care of your wallets and phones. If you look hard enough you will find the best of things at dirt-cheap prices.
Pro tip: Make sure you brush up your bargaining skills before you visit these flea markets to get the best prices.
