Mohammad Jasem Alwazzan is one of the renowned names in the field of photography. With 24 years of photography experience, Mohammad Jasem Alwazzan is the go-to professional whenever businesses want to showcase their products. His artistic flair is something that takes products to another level. Even a simple item turns luxurious through the lenses of Mr. Alwazzan. And today, we are fortunate to have him with us.
Q: Mr. Alwazzan, first of all, we would like to know, when did you embark on the journey of photography, or what led you to photography?
A: Firstly, thank you for having me here. Well, I entered the world of photography in 1996. I had recently moved to San Diego, California, to finish my higher education at SDSU. I majored in computer networking and digital art, and that’s where I learned a lot of photography. It intrigued me so much that I took it up as my career.
Q: A quick question about your gears. What cameras do you use, and what camera did you start with?
A: I was a big fan of Canon. I not only started my career with Canon, but I also used it for 19 years. But then the Sony A7R came out, and it changed everything. In my opinion, it was one of the best cameras I’ve seen in my career. I switched to the Sony A7R in 2015. Since then, I’ve been using Sony cameras. Currently, I’m using the Sony A7RIV. Apart from these professional cameras, I also use my iPhone to shoot photos for my Instagram stories.
Q: Our readers would love to know where you work, and some of the companies you have worked with.
A: I have my studio in Kuwait called MJAlwazzan Photography. You can find its location on Google easily. And to answer your second question, well, I’ve had the good fortune to work with some famous companies like KDD, Porsche Club Kuwait, Em Sherif Restaurant, Men’s Passion, Ubon, Haagen-Dazs, Lenotre, and Chocolate & Macaron. I even cover various events like the opening of cafés and restaurants, 5-star hotels, and the launch of different apps.
Q: Which genre of photography do you love the most?
A: I love taking travel photos, products, and foods. It’s the artistic nature of all these things that I love to capture. Suppose if I see a beautifully-crafted dessert, I would immediately take a few shots because I admire the art involved in reaching that level of perfection. Similarly, when I’m taking photos of people, I aim to capture their raw emotions. That’s one reason I don’t edit my pictures because I feel it manipulates the reality or the essence of the moments I capture.
