The personality of Orry or Orhan ‘Orry’ Awatramani, has been a much talked about topic in the entertainment circles.

People first noticed him when he suddenly appeared at a lot of Bollywood events, posing with A-list celebrities and then his mention at an episode of Koffee With Karan only further had people intrigued about him.

However, the cryptic answers from Bollywood celebs about him and his own statements in interviews that supposedly had everyone scratching their heads only made people want to look deeper into his personality.

Is Orry Really So Mysterious?

The answer in one word is, no. No, he’s actually not that mysterious or even that wacky or out of the box. In fact, if one has to say something he is a very typical Gen-Z socialite who spends an extremely large amount of his time on the internet and has some knowledge about all the lingo, slang and way that people talk on those platforms.

The only reason I could relatively feel he is being hyped up so much is that our audience, especially those who are not on digital media platforms or don’t engage in those circles is so unaware of it that everything he says seems like the weirdest thing to them.

Truly, if you are in those sectors of say fandoms or have a decent social media presence, then half the things he says would not be so out of the box.

There, practically everyone talks like that and most of it can be seen as influences from video games, TV shows, movies, and even YouTubers, TikTok trends, Insta reels and more.

The language is something very commonly seen in those areas and that is why personally found it very strange when the media started to hype him as some weird eccentric person whose every statement is something totally out of the world.

Just take the instance of how after Orry’s appearance at the final episode of Koffee With Karan, netizens found out that Orry’s comments about the minions and Orry numbers 2, 3 and 4 were actually taken from the American TV show Scream Queens, starring Emma Roberts.

In a clip shared online, Roberts’ character called her minions as ‘Chanel #2,’ ‘Chanel #3’, ‘Chanel #4,’ and so on.

Pavan Jha on X/Twitter also called out that the use of the relevance room concept by Orry is nothing new as it was mentioned in an olden Hollywood film called Sunset Boulevard.

He wrote “Not so original as the Hollywood film Sunset Boulevard of 50s has a similar theme of a relevance room along with concept of Orry 2 for staying relevant and then we have Balaji tele serials writers who devise demise, fallback and revival comeback as popular tropes.

But seeing this in real life is the curse of social media age. The only good reason to see that Orry (FTS, never knew) is clear with what he wants to do.”

Regarding his minions comment, Orry said “In the Orry office, my office, there is a room called the relevance room. All my minions, who have to dress up like me and think like me and talk like me…” and his “I have three silent doppelgangers” comment, both of these phrases are widely used among many people in a humourous way on social media, especially fandom circles and more to address their followers.

The comment he made about being omnipresent, even that is not anything original and one can see a lot of the regular people talk in the same way on social media in posts and comments or replies.

Many also use them just while shitposting, which essentially means that the person is posting random things with no particular intent behind them, and trying to be edgy and funny.

Orry did say one thing very correctly “If I don’t know you and you are talking shit about me, I won! I have taken your shade and turned it into a parade. If you are laughing at me, while I make money out of it. I won! You are making memes but I am making money.”

The man has somehow used the apparent unawareness of the audience of such things and turned it to create his own personality that makes him the talk of the town. And even if people point out how he ‘copied’ stuff from here and there, it doesn’t affect him negatively.

One could assume that Orry used the fact that the audience was so interested in him because to them he seemed someone they couldn’t really compartmentalize in the neat boxes that could be done with other celebrities.

The man is using several marketing strategies reportedly where his leaning into his whole wacky, ‘oh you don’t know the next thing he will say’ type personality to keep the audience guessing. Because the more they guess, the more they will keep talking about him thus increasing his relevancy in the pop culture sector.
