The increasing Indian-Americans’ presence in the government administration has made Biden joke about the impending takeover by Indians.

What Does The American President Think Of It?

“It’s amazing. Indian-descent Americans are taking over the country — you, my vice president, my speechwriter”, said Biden to Swati, after her contributions to the Perseverance rover landing.

Swati Mohan moved to the States when she was a year old and her fascination with space began with the cult classic “Star Trek”.

Biden considers “Indian-descent Americans” to be the role model for minority communities in the nation. It is well reflected by the fact that he is appointing a large number of them to his administration, which currently stands at 55 during the last count.

The notable Indian-American that Biden has appointed are Uzra Zeya, Under Secretary of State for Civilian Security, Democracy, and Human Rights, State Department; Mala Adiga: Policy Director to Dr. Jill Biden, Gautam Raghavan, Deputy Director in Office of Presidential Personnel, Bharat Ramamurti, Deputy Director of the National Economic Council and many more.

Has It Been Done Before?

Barely 50 days into office, Biden has appointed a LOT of Indians in key positions, but the fact remains that this has originated during the 8-year regime of Barack Obama, who had taken into account the fact that Indians in America did better administrative jobs than the rest.

Starting from the Obama-Biden administration, it had also been continued in the Trump administration. Trump actually took a step forward as he appointed the first-ever Indian-American with a cabinet rank and inside the National Security Council.

The growing tide of Indian-Americans in the Biden administration means that the community at large gains confidence in the administration, that too because of the rising number of Indians and Indian-origins in America.

What Does It Mean For Indians In… India?

Considering the fact that India is a land where corruption malpractices are at work even at the grassroots, the nepotism of the officials along with how much money one has seems to dictate who runs the Nation.

Being a developing nation, we Indians always look for a place that provides us with better opportunities in life, and the United States is doing just that. By appointing Indian-Americans in the Parliament, they show how much they appreciate the intellect and the work one puts in, and not how much money one has.

Another aspect we tend to overlook is the dreaded reservation system that undermines the efficiency of the government machinery at large. The reserved people often get in at the cost of deserved people.

If Indians can be American citizens and enjoy every Right in their Constitution, barring Presidentship, why not grab a better opportunity there?
