The Haryana government, led by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, announced on Tuesday its latest environment-centric scheme, according to which, the government will give Rs. 50 to school students for planting trees.

The scheme will apply to students from class 6th to 12th of both government and private schools. With around 22 lakh such students, the scheme is set to have a huge impact, which will help the deteriorating environmental health of the state.

In order to motivate the children and create a sense of connection with the saplings planted, the students will be encouraged to name them after their ancestors.

The scheme is set to be launched by the Education Ministry on July 10, 2018.

The government has announced similar schemes in the recent past to boost the environmental health of Haryana.
