Physics Wallah is an ed-tech startup that claims to believe in providing good and affordable education. It has recently gained even more popularity with the release of the TV series of the same name chronicling the life of Alakh Pandey and the origin of this educational journey. Like all the big names in the youth media, Physics Wallah has also come under controversy.
Controversy In Detail
Three former teachers of Physics Wallah, namely, Tarun Kumar, Manish Dubey, and Sarvesh Dixit, posted a video on YouTube which went viral on social media. The video is a highly emotional affair where the teachers are seen to be sharing screenshots of their WhatsApp chats with Prateek Maheshwari and crying out of sadness and frustration.
The teachers have started their own YouTube channel named Sankalp as they claim to want to continue with Physics Wallah’s original ideals: to provide good and affordable education.
They accuse the institution of deviating from its path after it came under the limelight. They started their own venture because they did not feel aligned with their former organisation.
They accuse Physics Wallah of having tried to strike Sankalp. They are furious because they claim to have completed their course before quitting the organisation.
The three also contend that their chemistry instructor for Physics Wallah, Pankaj Sijairya, unjustly accused them of accepting money from competing platform Adda247 in order to leave Physics Wallah.
Some people believe that since Physics Wallah is the only profitable edtech institution in the country, using its name in a controversial light is just a tactic to gain popularity.
On the other hand, some students share words of encouragement.
