There are mysterious forces around us and if you are unlucky, you may witness a paranormal incident that can forever keep you awake in the middle of the night!

We’ve brought you 5 most terrifying real-life horror stories that will send chills down your spine:

PANCHMARHI – SEE YOU TOMORROW

“We were exploring Panchmarhi and had barely walked 50 meters away from the waterfall when we came across a little girl, around 11-12 years old. She said she had come with her mother to see the falls and now couldn’t find her. Her clothes were soiled and too old for someone who was here just for a picnic. We told her to stay there while we looked for her mother.

We spent over an hour searching for her mother but in vain. It was getting dark and we thought of getting out of there and taking the kid with us to the nearest police station to report the matter. We found her exactly where we met her an hour ago. When we asked her to come along with us, she said, “You can come here tomorrow. We’ll try to find her again. See you tomorrow.” – Anonymous

KASHEDI – A GOOD DECISION

“It was January 3, 2018. I was driving back to Ratnagiri from Mahabaleshwar after enjoying a solo holiday. It was around 10 pm and I was enjoying driving on empty roads.

Suddenly, I noticed a lady waiting alone at a bus stand near Kashedi and I slowed down a bit, stopping eventually. She looked old, tired and had a bag which she grabbed and hurried towards my car. Something told me to be ready to accelerate soon.

She knocked at my window asking me to roll it down, which I did no more than 2 cm. “My husband threw me out of the house and I am all alone. My family lives about half an hour from here. Will you give me a ride? Please, I am no ghost”, she pleaded with an intriguing smile on her face.

She was pale and had unkempt hair. “I am not going that way, I am sorry”, I lied and started accelerating. “Good decision”, she yelled from behind and these words still send chills down my spine till date.” – Anonymous

KOLKATA DOCK, KIDDERPORE

This one is a tale of historic vengeance. Nawab Wajid Ali Shah of Awadh renounced his throne and kingdom because the East India Company promised him passage to England. The Nawab spent his last days waiting at the dock while the company betrayed him.

The fable says that his ghost, along with spirits of soldiers and sailors who were with him, lurk around the docks waiting for revenge. The Nawab was fond of Hindustani classical music and dock workers believe haunting notes of music can be heard in the area. Now only if this ghost could get a passage to 10 Downing Street.

HASTINGS HOUSE, ALIPORE

Locals believe that the ghost of Warren Hastings, the British Governor-General of India, still visits this house, in search of valuables. The legend goes that during his transfer from Calcutta to England, Hastings misplaced a black bureau.

This bureau contained not only valuables but also papers that would have prevented his impeachment later in the UK. People have reported hearing footsteps going up the stairs for it.

In 1947, Lady Taylor gave an interview to ‘Life’ magazine and said that she had experienced many eerie things in the Hastings House and saw a ghostly figure in the house. Apart from this, she was also able to hear hyena-like laughter in the house.

Another haunted story is of a boy waiting there year after year to play football. It is said that the young boy died from hitting a football on the chest. Due to all these reasons, people are not willing to go to the Hastings House in the evening.

THE LEGEND OF BHANGARH

Many stories and Bhangarh incidents make up the unique tale of this fort. One such myth says that the city of Bhangarh was cursed by the Guru Balu Nath, causing the town’s evacuation. Balu Nath cursed the town, saying that the moment the shadows of the palaces touch him, the city shall perish.

The other myth says that Singhia, a well-versed occult magician who used to live in the region had fallen in love with the charming princess Ratnavati of BhangarhWhile dying, Singhia cursed the palace with the death of all who dwelt in it. The very next year there was a battle between Bhangarh and Ajabgarh and Ratnavati died.

One of the Bhangarh Fort incidents is that of two young boys, who decided to spend a night in the fort but never returned home.

Similar to this tragic incident, another boy decided to visit the fort during the night with lighting equipment but fell in a steep well located in the middle of the fort. Although he was rescued immediately by his friends while he was being rushed to the hospital, the car got crushed in an accident and all three died on the spot.
