Cricket World Cup: Who Will Wear The Crown Of Best Player?

February has arrived and I don’t have to tell you what’s special about this month. The ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 is here and finally our four year long wait is over.

This tournament is one of the world’s most viewed sporting events and is considered the “flagship event of the international cricket calendar” by the ICC.
In this article we are going to talk about some predictions related to the contenders for the best player title in the tournament. Here are some of our predictions.

1. Virat Kohli (India):

Virat Kohli is a right-handed middle-order batsman and also the recently appointed captain of the Indian test team. He is one of India’s finest and batsman who has played 146 ODIs and has contributed more than 6000 runs. He will surely win many matches for his side, and will be among the top scorers, for he is in top form.

2. Ian Bell (England):

He is a balanced batsman and also an occasional right-arm bowler, in short an all-rounder.  He has scored 21 test centuries and 4 ODI ones. His recent performances have been extraordinary. He is definitely going to play a big role for his side this time, a side that is looking to win their first World Cup.

3. Mitchell Johnson (Australia):

He is a left-arm fast bowler. In his 144 ODIs, he has taken 221 wickets. He has also clocked his fastest ball at 156.8kph, which made him the 3rd fastest active bowler (as of January 2015), and amongst the 10 fastest of all time. Recently, Johnson has been in cracking form, not to mention the home ground (pitch) advantage.

4. Ab de Villiers (South Africa):

This right handed phenomenal batsman who captains the South Africa team, has secured the number one position in the ICC rankings. He holds the record of the fastest 50 and 100 in ODI cricket. He is a game changer and a threat for all the bowlers. He plays each stroke in style, and scores runs consistently: a deadly combination.

There are some more talented players who make it to the top of the list. To mention a few:

  • Bhuvneshwar Kumar (India)
  • David Warner (Australia)
  • Brendon McCullum (New Zealand)
  • Shane Watson (Australia)
  • Dale Steyn (South Africa)

We can speculate, but at the end of the day, this game is extremely unpredictable. Here’s to a crazy world cup, just around the corner!
