It takes guts to stand up and ask questions in front of a big audience, however, it can be even more intimidating to question actual authorities.

This is perhaps why this college student was praised when he stood up to question police officers on the easy availability of drugs to college students.

What Did The Student Say?

According to reports, a student from Dr BR Ambedkar National Law University, Sonipat went viral after videos started circulating of him asking police officers why the authorities were not taking proper measures to stop drugs from being available so easily to students.

At an event for a drug de-addiction campaign, the college student is seen calling out how drugs are available “so conveniently” around students and why the police are not doing anything.

The clip was reportedly first uploaded by Dr Aniruddha Malpani on 7th March 2024 with the caption “We need more students like him! Proves what a sham the Police are”.

Another of the posts with the video captioned it as “A student from Dr BR Ambedkar National Law University, Sonipat, showed courage by addressing an issue that the police were avoiding discussing.”

Till now, the clip has gotten over a million views and thousands of likes and retweets.

As per reports, the student in the video standing up says “Sir, we have seen such a big program of drug de-addiction campaign, but the university is the biggest epicenter of drug addiction. Today, students from four universities are gathered here. Getting ‘Ganja’ or any intoxicating substance is as easy as getting toffee or lollipop.”

He further questioned “If a first or second-year student can trace or track the drug dealers, then why can’t police do so? Are the police lagging behind?” and “Being a student here, I know that there is a police station nearby and ‘ganja’ is available right in front of the post. So, don’t you think this is a failure of the police?”

One user replied to the video “Excellent question and courageous kid indeed. We’re asking the exact same questions here in the US (small town high school in the pnw) and guess what? They’re not able to answer” while another wrote “Very courageous kid. We need more like him. The future of this country is bright.”

One user commented that the cause of this was corruption writing “Yeah, it’s all over in all the departments. It’s called hafta!! The major problem is the ground level corruption which still needs to be addressed.”

Another person wrote how this was due to local politicians commenting “Well said! Even now you can get drugs outside the schools. If police want, they can catch all these drug dealers in 1 week. But I guess it will not be good for the police and local politicians for their personal interests.”
