Breakfast Babble is ED’s own little space on the interwebs where we gather to discuss ideas and get pumped up (or not) for the day. We judge things, too. Sometimes. Always. Whatever, call it catharsis and join in, people.
At this point, being busy isn’t a situation anymore; it has become a personality.
You wake up, have your breakfast, rush to your classes or work, come back home, complain about being exhausted, and then… do it all over again. And somehow, this cycle has become something we’re proud of.
Running on sleep deprivation for days or rushing through meals has become so normal that we’ve started to confuse it with productivity.
If we’re not occupied, if we’re not stressed about work, or if we have enough time to watch a movie, it almost feels like we’re committing a crime.
Like, leisure is a luxury we don’t deserve anymore.

But at what cost?
Skipping meals, barely sleeping, constantly feeling tired, and having no time for ourselves isn’t productivity; it’s not an achievement to be proud of.
And yet we are.
The busier we look, the more sorted we feel. Like our life is all figured out. When in reality, we’re all just burnt out. We’re all just in this race that has taught us that moving forward is the only way to get through life.
And maybe it is, but what about pausing a little to celebrate the little things we’ve achieved?
What about slowing down a little to appreciate everything we’ve done for ourselves and everyone around us?
Somewhere along the way, we stopped questioning what we’re working towards and started focusing on just staying busy, as if resting a little is wrong.
Maybe it isn’t.
Maybe that is what gives us the space to actually understand what we’re doing and why we’re doing it.
Because being busy doesn’t always mean we’re on the right track. Sometimes, it could also mean that we’re just too negligent to think about our well-being.
And maybe that’s the problem.
Because at the end of the day, what’s the point of it all if we can’t take a little time to appreciate ourselves?
