All of us have listened to the dreamy voice of Alka Yagnik for several years now. She has lent her voice to various evergreen chartbusters that have become mainstays for Bollywood.
Indian playback singer, Alka Yagnik, has brought laurels to the Indian music industry. Recently, she became the most streamed artist on Youtube, surpassing international artists, like Taylor Swift and BTS. Alka Yagnik has been featured in the Guinness Book of World Records consecutively for the third year.
The Highest Streamed Artist
According to a Guinness Book Of World Records report, Yagnik’s songs recorded 15.3 billion global streams in 2022, with an average of 42 million streams per day. This is not the first time that she is being featured in the Records.
She had 17 billion streams in 2021 and 16.6 billion in 2020, the highest streaming numbers on Youtube. She beat Bad Bunny (Puerto Rico), who had 14.7 million streams. The top five on the list remaining are all Indian singers: Udit Narayan (10.8 billion), Arijit Singh (10.7 billion), and Kumar Sanu (9.09 billion).
Who Were The Main Gainers Of The List?
The list came as a surprise, as millennial singers were not able to not garner such streaming numbers and create such a record. BTS recorded 7.95 billion streams, while BLACKPINK had 7.03 billion. Both made it to the top ten.
The Weeknd took the 13th spot with 5.03 billion streams. Taylor Swift, with 4.33 billion streams, grabbed the 26th position, and Drake, with 2.9 billion, was in the 50th place.
Alka Yagnik- The Leading Lady In Music Industry
