A Japanese YouTube channel named ‘Candy Fox’ with over 1 million subscribers released a music video named Curry Police’ which showed Indians in a ridiculous manner.

The music video has received massive backlash from the Indian audiences for promoting stereotypical images of Indians and for targeting Indian culture and identity.

The widespread criticism by the public forced the creator to remove the music video from the  YouTube channel, but many other channels re-uploaded the deleted video.

Plot Of The Video

The music video showed two Rajasthani men who are mad curry lovers and dream of traveling around the world to serve curry to people. These men are mad about eating curry to an extent that they are seen ‘dancing naked’ when they don’t get to have curry.

The men reach Japan after 20 years and are shown setting up a Japanese restaurant devoted to curry. The Japanese people also love curry and are shown standing in queues all night outside that restaurant.

Backlash From Indian Audience

Although the song and music video has no deep meaning and features illogical instances, it has received a lot of backlash from India.

Indians have a popular international stereotypical image of being massive curry lovers. The public has blamed the creators of the music video for promoting this false perception about Indians and for mocking them.

The music video has become an online sensation for all wrong reasons with many Indian YouTubers making roast videos and giving their reactions on the same.

The video, which also features popular Japanese YouTuber “Namastey Kohei” who is known for playing Hindi songs on the violin, also apologized for being a part of the video when he started getting trolled by the Indian public.

Apology By The Creator

After receiving criticism, the creator removed the music video from YouTube and apologized for hurting the sentiments of Indians.

Popular Indian rapper Raftaar’s comment

Popular Indian rapper Raftaar also thanked the creator for taking down the video and highlighted the need for strong Asian unity. He also insisted on removing the audio of the song from YouTube, which was uploaded by the creator a day after deleting the video.
