Fake Friendly Fridays is a section where we pick a famous personality and throw fake questions at him/her and in return, we receive fake answers. Why should you not take it seriously? Because it is fake.

If you still didn’t get it: This is a fake interview written purely on the basis of the author’s imagination of how the actual interview would have been if we got the chance to interview these famous (some, for all the wrong reasons) personalities in real life. In short, just have a good laugh!

ED Times: Hey Everyone. Today, we have with us a very honorable guest, whose popularity exceeds everyone else’s right now. Please give it up for JEE Advanced 2021 Topper Mridul Agarwal.

Mridul (comes with Pradeep’s Physics book in his hand): Hello, thank you for having me here. May I please sit?

ED Times: Oh wow, we have never had anyone ask us that question before. But, I guess this is what happens when we interview the topper of one of the country’s toughest exams ever before. Yes, you may sit.

Mridul: Thank you very much

ED: So, how does it feel to have topped the premier engineering entrance exam with the highest marks ever in history?

Mridul: Like my marks, I am very high..

ED (Thinks): (toppers also do that kind of stuff?????)

Mridul: ….high on adrenaline.

ED (oh!): Yeah that makes more sense. Given your preparation, you must have expected to do well, but ever thought that you’d top it?

Mridul: I only study to top. If you are not topping, then what is it all for? If anything, I feel bad for not attempting the rest of the questions. 348/360 sounds dull. 360/360 – now that is worth celebrating.

ED (thinks back to all the times when she patted herself for doing the bare minimum): But, 348/360 are the highest ever marks in the history of this exam. You made a new record. That’s an achievement.

Mridul, how did you feel on the exam day? You were entering the examination hall knowing that it may change your life. Were you nervous or excited?

Mridul: What was there to be nervous about? Examination halls are my favorite places to be. I feel at home. That day was like my vacation day.

ED: So that’s how self-belief sounds like. Not much used to that (cries internally).

Well, your hard work bore fruits. Your parents must be proud. How are you enjoying the reaction to your feat?

Mridul: My parents and teachers are elated. I am loving all the media attention as well. Although I was always the center of attention at all gatherings anyway because other parents used me as a reference to compare their kids’ grades to. But now the entire country can do that. Agarwal Ji ka beta is the new Sharma ji ka beta.

ED: Oh, of course, you are every media outlet and parent’s favorite kid today. But, how do you sleep at night knowing that there is one faction that terribly hates you – All the students of this country.

Mridul:

Le Mridul:

Having haters means I must be doing something right in life (wink wink). Doesn’t Elon musk have more haters than Vijay from Surat? People my age hate me because they can’t be like me.

ED: But it must be hard for you to make friends in that case then, right?

Mridul: I never cared about making memories and friends. These kinds of things are what commoners indulge themselves in to give themselves a sense of respite from the fact that they are not the best. But, I am already the best so who cares about it.

ED (thinking of the time she called herself smart but then immediately laughed it up by saying ‘JK’): That’s an interesting approach to life. Plus you must have to preserve the space in your brain for Physics formulae and chemistry reactions, so why fill it with “useless” memories, right?

This brings me to my last question. What was your preparation schedule like? How did you ensure that you remembered hundreds of formulae and equations?

Mridul: I used to study 25 hours a day. I know what you must be thinking. There are only 24 hours in a day. Extra hour for extra smart people!

By the exam time, I had done my revision 199 times. You can understand my disappointment for not being able to do it the 200th time. Maybe I could have gotten 361/360 had I done that. Extra mark for being extra smart, right?

ED: Maybe you can compensate for this the next time you appear for any exam. Till then, celebrate this feat and enjoy this phase.

Mridul: Or you could say “keep studying” because for me studies and celebrations are the same. See you next time I top the IIT exams. Bye!
