In recent news, a 10-year-old spiritual orator called Abhinav Arora has come under the spotlight after a two-part video was done on him by a YouTuber.

Several godmen and spiritual gurus in India, enjoy a large following and many disciples hanging onto their every word.

There is nothing wrong with following such gurus if one’s life is getting better through it somehow, as long as one remains aware and careful and doesn’t let it go into the blind trust category.

However, it also cannot be denied that many people try to use the honest faith common people put into them as spiritual gurus and misuse it to their advantage.

The videos, raise questions on who controls the young child, how ethical this is, and whether the intentions are as pure as shown.

Who Is Abhinav Arora?

Abhinav Arora is a 10-year-old spiritual orator from Delhi having over 9.58 lakh followers on his Instagram account. He also has 2.2 lakh followers on Facebook, and 1.3 lakh subscribers on his YouTube channel.

He is referred to as “Bal Sant” by some of his followers and claims to be a devotee of Shree Krishna.

He recently went viral in September after a video of him crying in front of a Ganpati idol was uploaded. In the video, the child is seen offering laddoos to Lord Ganesh and saying “Jaldi aana (Come back quickly)” all while tearing up.

He got even more emotional when the priest arrived to take the idol for the visarjan (immersion) ceremony. This touched a lot of people with many leaving positive and loving comments on his post.

His Instagram account shows him celebrating Hindu festivals, giving devotional messages about Lord Krishna and Radha, reading Hindu scriptures, and more.

Son of an entrepreneur, author, and TEDx speaker Tarun Raj Arora, the child was even given the title of India’s “Youngest Spiritual Orator” by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari at the Global Indian Conclave and Awards when he was eight.

In August, actor Anupam Kher also shared a clip where he met with the young boy and admired his knowledge of Sanatan. His father Tarun Raj Arora, according to an ABP Live report claimed that Abhinav took up the spiritual path from the age of three and has been sharing his devotion to Lord Ram through stories and praises.

According to a report, he revealed his daily routine in an interview, claiming that he wakes up at 3.30 AM in the Brahma muhurta, performing a ‘mala jaap’ (reading the rosary) afterwards. Then he does pooja at 4 am and the Tulsi Puja Parikrama at 6.30 am, offering “bhog” to Bal Gopal in his home.

He attends a school in Delhi, however, he has also reportedly said that no one wants to sit with him or like him since he greets people with “Radhe Radhe” or “Jai Shree Krishna.”

What Did The YouTuber Say?

On 2nd October, the YouTube channel uploaded a video titled “Abhinav Arora: The Visit | Part -1” with a second part uploaded on 13 October 2024.

The YouTube channel run by YouTuber Ankit usually posts humorous videos about Indian films. However, this particular series went into a deep dive into the spiritual orator, taking a look at his journey.

The series suggests that the public persona of the young child is not simply due to his faith in the religious path but actually, something coached to him by his parents, especially his father Tarun Raj Arora.

In these videos, Ankit points out how repetitive and rehearsed some of Abhinav’s answers to the media sound, with him looking confused when asked a question that was allegedly not expected.

Stitching several interview clips of the spiritual orator from different interviews, the video points out similar phrases, tones, and even entire lines that are repeated constantly with no change in them.

The YouTuber claims that this is due to the coaching his father is putting the young boy through and making him memorise exact phrases and lines for these interviews. The series also pointed out that Abhinav’s father had an ice cream business called Falooda Express and he created several marketing videos to promote it. In those videos, Abhinav can be seen dressing, talking, and behaving like a normal child.

The video shows clips from the ads for the ice cream business that show Abhinav using a phone, wearing a regular T-shirt and shorts, and talking normally. It points out how while the young boy now seemingly calls his mother ‘Maiya’ in those older videos he’s seen calling his mother ‘mummy’.

The YouTuber also raises questions on the contradiction where on one hand, the boy is promoting spirituality and non-materialistic teachings, however, on the other hand, he is promoting brands and doing paid collaborations with companies on his social media.

The video did make it clear though that this is not an attack against the young boy itself, but instead a question to his parents and whether what they are doing is completely ethical or just brainwashing a young kid who doesn’t know any better.
