India’s Partition was a time of immense turmoil and upheaval marked by widespread communal violence between Hindus, Muslims and Sikhs.

There are many accounts available to us to understand the social and historical relevance of the Partition that talk about the various communities that were central to it and others that remained unaffected by it.

One such community was that of the Parsees: entrepreneurial and thrifty. They were very much a part of the demographics of India at the time of Partition, however, managed to escape the wrath of the Divide.
