The Washington Auto Show started on 23rd January and it is a ten day event this time. This year, thousands of visitors, including many environmental and automotive visionaries, will explore the more than 700 new makes and models from over 42 manufacturers at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. The Washington Auto Show had kicked off with a couple of futuristic cars, Toyota FV2 and Toyota Mirai along with an appearance of a young TV star, Sadie Robertson from the Duck Dynasty.
TOYOTA FV2:
The single-seater Toyota FV2 Concept expressing Toyota’s “Fun to Drive” philosophy connects emotionally and physically with the driver and Toyota says that the technology of the vehicle allows it to gauge the driver’s mood and suggest possible destinations. The interaction between driver and vehicle is also displayed in an augmented reality screen on the windshield. The car measures 3 m long, 1.6m wide and 2.3 m tall with a wheelbase of 1.78 m.
The vehicle, lacking a steering wheel, uses the movement of the driver’s body to go forward, backward or sideward. It receives and shares information on safety and traffic conditions with other vehicles, and then displays it to the user.
TOYOTA MIRAI:
The fuel-cell vehicle, Toyota Mirai has a 113 kW of motor power on the front wheels and produces 335 Nm of torque. Toyota Mirai can go up to 111 mph (179 km/h) and 0-60 mph takes 9.0 seconds. Powered by hydrogen gas, its only emission is water and Toyota stays with Nickel-metal hydride NiMH batteries for Mirai. The four-door sedan will be priced close to $60,000 mark.

2015 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 CONVERTIBLE
This $88,000 high performance Corvette comes with LT4 supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine which exhibits a whopping 650 horsepower. The car reaches to 60 in 3.15 seconds with the standard 7-speed manual but with new, optional 8-speed automatic gearbox, the time drops to a scant 2.95 seconds (with Launch Control Mode). Thanks to a set of wide, sticky new Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires, the car reaches a top speed of 330 km/h (205 mph).
This utterly civilized and refined car will be competing against the likes of Audi R8, Dodge Viper, Ferrari 458, Jaguar F-Type Coupé R, Mercedes-AMG GT, Nissan GT-R and Porsche 911 Turbo in the market.
2015 FORD 150 PICKUP TRUCK
The new Ford pickup truck comes with 732 pounds of less weight and more power mill ranges. New Ford 150 will be available with two more engine options along with regular 3.7-liter V6, one is naturally aspirated, 3.5-liter V6 tuned to make 283 horsepower, giving the 4×2 pick-up a maximum payload of 1,910 pounds and a tow rating of 7,600 pounds. The second one is 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6, turbocharged to make 325 horsepower which allows maximum payload and towing ratings of 2,250 and 8,500 pounds, respectively.
FORD MUSTANG SHELBY GT 350
The new Shelby GT350 can have 5.2-liter “high-revving” V8 engine that uses a flat-plane crankshaft and has been spotted roaming around the streets and lapping the Nurburgring track numerous times. There is no confirmed news on power and torque levels but we expect more than 500 horsepower and a torque peak above 400 pound-feet. Cheers Mustang Lovers! A six-speed manual gearbox and Torsen limited-slip differential will be standard, while an engine oil cooler and transmission cooler will be available as part of a Track Pack. Aluminum wheels – 19-inches will be attached to Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires to give it more grip and speed.
VOLKSWAGEN BEETLE R-LINE
The new Beetle R-Line offers 210 horsepower from a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine for those who like a little more punch. From a stop, the R-Line’s flat-out acceleration feels simultaneously crazed and rather fun, thanks to a not excessively overzealous Anti-Slip Regulation system which allows the front wheels to grate a bit of rubber along the roadway.The R-line with sunroof includes 19-inch alloy wheels, bi-xenon headlights with LED running lights and leather upholstery. The sporty R-Line also boasts of revised front and rear bumpers, bigger brakes, an independent rear suspension with optional sport-tuning, exclusive kick plates and R-Line badges, aluminum-look pedals, sport seats with cloth upholstery and the Cross Differential System, which modulates the inside front brake to minimize wheel spin in hard cornering.
VOLKSWAGEN E-GOLF
The e-Golf is an another all-electric zero emissions “Think Blue” vehicle powered by an 115hp electric motor that develops 199 lb-ft of torque. From a stop, the e-Golf reaches 25mph in approximately 4.2sec, while 60mph is reached in around 10.4sec. Top speed is electronically limited to 87mph. The e-Golf will be the first Volkswagen vehicle with LED headlights as standard for more energy efficiency and more lighting. Inside they’ve revamped instrumental cluster, touchscreen navigation system and charging indicator.
A JEEP 3.0L V6 ECO-DIESEL ENGINE
A new engine for Ram 1500 and the Jeep Grand Cherokee has also been put on display that makes 240 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque.It’s the smallest engine, as far as displacement is concerned, currently being offered in a large truck in the US but its torque figure is pretty impressive.
