The Women’s Premier League 2024 concluded on 18th March, with a historic win as the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) finally ended their 16-year drought and won their first ever T-20 title.
This is the first time RCB has across both the WPL and the Indian Premier League (IPL) and fans of the team were certainly celebrating with pomp and applause for the women finally bringing home the cup.
The women’s RCB team won by eight wickets over Delhi Capitals creating history and legends like Virat Kohli, Chris Gayle and more congratulating the players. However, the entirety of the second season of WPL was surely one to remember with even general interest being much higher compared to before.
Here we take a look at some of the most epic moments that the WPL 2024 gave us:
Richa Ghosh Making The Running Runs
RCB was down to its last over standing at 109/2 score and needing just 5 more runs to secure their win. In this moment, Richa Ghosh created history by making the final winning runs for the team against DC’s Arundhati Reddy.
Sajeevan Sajana’s Giving A Winning Sixer In Her First Game
Sajeevan Sajana made an epic debut by getting a win for MI against Delhi Capitals. The match was down to MI needing five runs out of the last ball and Sajana played a sixer at the last minute against spinner Alice Capsey, securing a victory for her team and showing her capabilities.

Harmanpreet Kau’s 95 Of 48 Balls Against Gujarat Giants
Harmanpreet Kaur, captain of the Mumbai Indians also grabbed attention with her spectacular innings of 95 not out from 48 balls against Gujarat Giants and secured her third-highest individual score. Kaur, winning the Player of the Match for a fifth time in the WPL set a record achievement.
Deepti Sharma Getting Three Wickets Against Delhi Capitals
Deepti Sharma from UP Warriorz had a great run too, scoring an unbeaten 88 runs from 60 balls against Gujarat Giants, however, she made history by becoming the first Indian to bag a hat-trick in the WPL. Sharma got 3 wickets against Delhi Capitals bagging Meg Lanning, Annabel Sutherland, and Arundhati Reddy.

Shabnim Ismail Bowling The Fastest Bowl In Women’s Cricket
Mumbai Indian’s Shabnim Ismail also set history by bowling the fastest ball in women’s cricket. The South African pacer’s ball had a speed of 132.1 km/h, breaking the 130 kmph limit in the MI vs Delhi Capitals match.
Of course, there were many more simply unforgettable moments, like Sophie Molineux the left-arm spinner’s amazing performance during the final match against Mumbai Indians, getting 3 wickets including Shafali Verma, Jemimah Rodrigues and Alice Capsey three of DC’s strongest batters in a row and then later also getting Radha Yadav.
RCB’s Ellyse Perry, created one of the most epic moments perhaps when her shot literally broke the window of the Tata Punch. EV car, displayed in the stadium while playing against UP Warriorz.
Another was RCB captain Smriti Madhana’s words at the end “I have a message for all the RCB fans, the most loyal fanbase. Nothing would have been possible without their support.
Ee Sala Cup Namde (‘this year the cup will be ours’ in Kannada) always comes up when speaking about RCB. Now I just want to say Ee Sala Cup Namdu (this year the cup is ours).”
